The situation in Atafu is very sad and I can only imagine the whole Atafu population are very sad people, regardless of which side they support.
Doesn't the whole situation say something about the church and the influence of "holy men"?
At the end of the day faifeau's are suppose to be working for the people - surely not the other way round.
And as for the confessed rape - the bloke needs to get another profession where he's supervised adequately around children. It's such an injustice to the girl's family (and esp the victim - even if she hasn't pressed charges)to have a perpetrator on pulpit. Honestly - who does that? I'd be interested to know how many adults in Atafu are affected with mental health issues?
How many of the population actually look out for their children?
And how informed are the Atafu people when it comes to sexual abuse matters?
