NO WAY is Puerto Rico is 80% White! A lot of them have Native and African blood and DNA. A few of them are ACTUALLY White! My family is from Jamaica and they can attest to this and I watched Black In Latin America series with Phil Gates.Latinos have Black in them, a lot of them, or are Black and the same goes for their Native blood line only there is more Latinos who have Native blood more than anything. These confused group of people are just running from their Black and Native roots to be accepted by White society. Look at JLO, she plays a White woman in basically all her films and she ''tries'' to ''act'' like a Latina that she is by marrying Mark Antony. But that didn't work out. Jessica Alba, who is half Mexican(She looks more Hispanic to me than anything!) said that she is probably less Latina than Cameron Diaz, who is also half Latina only Cameron Diaz looks White. Jessica Alba is an representation of how a Latina thinks; she wishes to be White and assimilates into White society to be accepted by Whites. I am NOT trying to generalize all Hispanic people and how they think but that is how a lot of them think. That is why they marry White because they think White is right and that they want to be up there in the social ladder with Whites. They don't want to be down there with us Blacks.

The point here is that people has to understand that there is nothing wrong with not been white. And for god sakes, is time for people to understand that been Latin or Hispanic is not a race but a origin, there are black whites indian indian in the hispanic community but for some reason there is the stupid stereotype that
all hispanics are olive skin dark hair and brown eyes, when that is a lieee. But in my opinion the Hispanic / Latinos group in the USA
prefer to keep the stereotype alive since that puts them closer to white.

80% is a craziness thing from the census, where puertoricans mark their selves as white. For me the census opens the door for the tabu subject in puerto rico, racism is ALIVE..... In Puerto Rico we all deny to be racist, but nobody wants to be black.

I cant tell you about people who are black and clasify their selves as white in the census. Any way in my opinion PR is way tooo young in what race is about.

exactly there is nothing wrong with it and you accept it, but most of the people in the island or the USA will deny it, instead of embrace it.

Most Whites are of the opinion that most, if not all, Latinos are non-White.

I believe that 50% of Puertorricans in the island are white, 30% are dark skin, 18% are black and 2% Chinese.

the Puerto Rican in the continental US are 60% dark Skin or mix, 20% white,20% Black.

This is absurd, Tainos died out hundreds of years ago, the african and caucasian race continue to inhabit the island. We are not Tainos we are mostly a mix of african and european, I think its more like 67% European, 27% african and 12% Taino... We look nothing like American and Mexican indians, we actually look like Arabs and people from the middle east, no indian blood over there....

And the reason people categorize themselves as white in PR is not that they actually think they are caucasian, it is a terminology issue. In the island if your light skinned they say you are blancito. So if asked their race they say white but they know and are proud of being non-white.....

And may I add that we might just be the best looking ethnic group in the world, our women have great bodies, overall latinos with lots of indian blood do not look as good as we do....
