Under a fierce sun Saturday in Bethlehem, with reggaeton blaring in the background, Hector Rodriguez's hands were flying.

I have no problem with celebrating your heritage, GO FOR IT. I have a problem with those that come here illegally, and expect us to take care of them through welfare, emergency room usage, and catering to them through usage of their own language. Take your one day a year to party and celebrate the culture of your native land, then get over it and try to fit in with our ways here. If I were to go to Mexico I would try to learn the language before hand. Would the Mexican people and government cater to me if I did not speak their language??? I think not. Intende'(do you understand)?

I went down to check it out yesterday and the first thing that came to mind was " Is this the police's way of rounding up all of the criminals in the valley? " ...
Then I realized that police here aren't that smart.

Put a gate around that festival and send them all the back home to their beloved country. We do NOT want your thieving butts here! 0.01% of you have done anything good to benefit society. The rest of you refuse to speak this country's natural language and you take advantage of the programs that are designed to benefit citizens of this country. GO AWAY!!!

Same old crap and arguement.....how many Puerto Ricans fought in the Wars??? How many Puerto Ricans avoided their Military Servcie due to their inability to take orders and are discipline problems???

You paint such a rosy picture....I was in "Nam on two tours as a combat medic and have never gone on welfare, disability, or faking it like the true blue puertorrquienos are the biggest con artists in this....

Every single time I mentioned my Military Servcie to a Chuleta..they ask me about my "Disability and the Payments"

Like it was some freaking grab bag of freebies....

And they exploit every opportunity that's presented to them, without return. Oh Boy... they fought in the war. So did the Filipinos, and they at least come here and learn the language and give back to the society without waving their flags in our faces.

Ha! Subtract the categories that lack substance as far as contributing to society, such as Actors, musicians, athletes, astrologers (that's a stretch, huh?), etc. You're left with politicians, many of whom are referenced as representing Puerto Ric, and then a handful of other people that HAVE made an impact.

Now, take your nice little list and compare it to a years worth of Police Blotter reports in the Morning Call. Let's see whose list is MUCH longer!

Filipinos have their independence; Puertoricans only have this parade, once a year, you can give that to them? They are proud of their culture. I do not see anything wrong with that. No one complains when the Germas have their Octoberfest of the Irish have their St. patrick's day parade.

And yet, they get their own festival. Like some other posters said, if they're so proud of being Puerto Rican, then they should go back to Puerto Rico and be proud there.

Prayers for those who are ignorant and prejudice.

Doesn't matter your race when it comes to crime, welfare, and disrespecting others.

What was the race of all those "religious" compounds? And the most recent one that celebrated babies having babies and having welfare support them?

It's not a matter of having a parade once a year. Yes... my heritage has its festival too. We toss the caber and eat some haggis, drink too much, and then go home and are Americans again. We continue to speak our language, and don't expect interpreters to be available to us in court when we're busted for holding up a convenience store. Our kids don't join gangs and spray graffiti all over the place. There's a Puerto Rican parade every day on 7th st in Allentown.

Wake up.... an organized group of criminals.... maybe not so organized! Columbine, skin heads, etc.
Hopefully parents know where their children are... even then, know what they are doing. Hanging at home on the computer making bombs, collecting guns, and planning to kill others isn't exactly the American Dream.
