I am a very light skin puerto rican and I know my mixtures of both my parents. My father being darker indian , and my mother of lighter but showing the afro rican look. as a kid born and raised here in the usa I grew up around afican americans and my friends would come over. My parents didn't mind that they came over. are puerto rican landlord had a nice and she would tell her aunt we were bringing negritos up to are house. she was a dark as they were if not darker.
my mother came out one day after hearing her and said hey and what do you think you are white
she never anounced to her aunt that negritos were going up to are house again. but we were kind of unique and a few other puerto ricans we would hangout with other african americans. Thats was my experience with racist puerto ricans.

Your account does not constitute racism. It's more like ignorance, at the very least just misguided prejudice.

Who cares what color your skin is......what's important was is in your heart....ofcoarse, this has to do with your upbringing....

I say be generous to those in need.
Be kind and warm to those in despair.
Never deny food to any hungry individual.....My grandmother use to say in spanish....ONCE FOOD PASSES THROUGH THE ESOPHAGUS IT BECOMES WASTE.....

these BTW were not her exact words.....I am just being verbally clean. ISA

He conocido gente de Puerto Rico por 30 annos, y no, no he notado el racismo que tienen la mayoria de los Cubanos. Los Boricuas son mas sinceros.

You know why she never announce that again, because she has to face her reality.

To me in my opinion you are no true Puerto Rican, you are a foreigner living in Puerto Rico acting like you are one...For I cannot fathom how much you hate and constantly put your own so called
Puerto Rican people...You are either Dominican, Cuban or Latin American but not Puerto Rican.....True Puerto Rican people will not hate their own so called people as much as you do...

Y tu abuela donde esta? I have been all over the island many times.I know puerto rico well. It is true that in yhe west and central part of the island you wont find as many people with negro features (pockets of mayaguez are an exception). However that does not mean if you encounter anti-black attitudes that the people are trully racist. at least not by U.s standards anyway. It more stems from ignorance. don't forget that many people from these small towns rarely venture out of there small worlds (barring the occasional trip to Ponce ,mayaguez, bayamon to shop). THEY have a limited world view (we have our share of p.r style rednecks as well) even the ones who have attended LA U.P . They feel very comfortable with what thry know. Does that mean that they are TRULLY racist or just plain ignorant. They bmay not want a OBVIOUSLY Black indidividual to marry there daughter but they will frelly socialize with a black if they cross paths with one or share a meal or drink or whatever., but the HARD COARSE racist attitudes you will find amongst "REDNECK WHITES" here in u.s.a you will RARELY find in puerto rico. unless they are originally from somewhere else .

A person that ask if Puertoricans are racist, need to spent a cople of weeks at the Island. I was bornd in Vega Baja and joint the Marine Corps when I was 17 and I was just medical retired February 28,2006, whent to Viet Nam, Golf war, endurans Freedom and Irak with the 2668th Trans Unit and put my life on the Front Line with demolition. A low life come with that type of question, will not ask that in the military and he dos'nt believe in God

She is exaggerating. I have never encountered "racism" in Puerto Rico or among Puerto Ricans. I have encountered racism in the U.S.

The people you describe (from small isolated towns or rural areas) are often leary of any stranger or outsider. I have had people in PR look at me in that manner (suspiciously) because of being an outsider and I am not Black.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
