Sounds like the American revolution.

It's my understanding that alot of people rallied to the Americans almost as soon as we landed. Jose Celso Barbosa formed the statehood movement less than a year after we landed.
The current pro-independence movement dates from the 1930s/1940s but has steadily lost power and support since the ELA/Commonwealth was proclaimed in 1952.
Not everyone, for there were a lot of people on the island still loyal to Spain. From what I read of PR history, many saw the Americans as their liberators from Spain and grant them full autonomy and independence. When that did not materialize, people became resentful with the "occupation" over the decades. That sentiment still reverberates in the national psyche and PR attitude toward the U.S. today.

That's what the Partido Popular has always been, loyal to the Spanish language, an almost obsession-like towards everything Spanish, try to vacation in Spain as often as possible, send their kids off to Spain (for college) or at least exchange....etc.

My father was a popular until 2008, now you know the reason I was sent away to Spain for college.

You sound like my Dad whenever I tell the story...LOL

Of course I was sent away, at least it felt like...LOL

Dad had a cousin married to this Spanish lady in Madrid and had both of them keep a watchful eye on me.

What did I do?

Go to a college, four hours away and close to Ibiza...LOL where I spent most of my time waiting for an ultimatum....LOL

I spent some of my life's best moments there and got to save tons of money on clothes and even laundry....

Try youtubing Salinas beach near Ibiza's old town, that's where I spent most of my time....LOL

Of course, I was 19 at the time, with everything "in place"...hahahahahahahaha

Now, I may seat on my "b___lls" forcing me to spend half my time in the nearby clinic...LOL

Did you sit on them again, Mr. Jorge????

LOL

I don't know how's your Spanish...but, did you catch Fortuņo's message yesterday?

The govt. is going to start on the Hway 22 extension to Aguadilla by next year to the tune of $745 million.

I didn't know it cost that much to move aside a couple of cows between Hatillo and Quebradillas.

BTW, something that keeps me marvelling about the NPP is the fact that Fortuņo announced the millions his next administration is going to spend on "all English" schools while each and every one of his annual messages as well as the govt.'s Channel 6 news and govt.'s many press conferences aren't even "close captioned" in English.

Joke: How do you tell when a politician is lying?
Response: His/Her lips are moving!

Here's another one:
Do you fancy working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics?:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year ...

Can you guess which organization this is?

Given up yet?

The United States House of Representatives.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aries

You're idealistic and impressionable today, and want to see the best in everyone. Look straight past their faults, pretending they aren't there; concentrate on their good points instead. If a new relationship gets off the ground now it will always be characterized by an aura of romance and fantasy, and a slightly otherworldly quality.
