Until a true Chicano is appointed to the Supreme court the Mexican-Americans of this country will truly be represented. Puerto Ricans and Mexican-Americans are as different as night and day. Obama might as well have elected another black to the Supreme Court.
Thanks for being truthful. I have been trying to tell Puerto Ricans for years that Mexicans do not respect them. Also, remember that you are the decendants of illegals, Puerto Ricans are the ONLY natural hispanics. The are the only TRUE hispanic, so ALL ricans should be in D.C. You can have Mexican pride in Mexico! As for another black, there were a female in Georgia that was more qualified. This is the thanks your kind gives him for nominating five offsprings of illegals to cabinet level positions. This is the thanks you people give him for advocating on behalf of your brothers and sisters, the illegals? I am not Puerto Rican, you can kiss my black A S S!!!!

Sotomayor Enters Confirmation Process with Miers-Like Numbers

July 10, 2009 by Patrick

Sonia Sotomayor will begin her confirmation hearings next week with some of the highest levels of public opposition of any Supreme Court nominee in the last two decades, according to a new poll by the CNN and the Opinion Research Corporation.

In fact, only one nominee had a higher level of opposition: Harriet Miers, who was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2005. Miers later withdrew her nomination under questions about her qualifications from both the political left and right.

Forty-seven percent of respondents to the poll say they would like to see the U.S. Senate vote to confirm Sotomayor versus forty-percent who say they would not.

In the final CNN poll taken before Miers withdrew her nomination, forty-three percent of respondents said the Senate should oppose her confirmation.

No other recent nominee, not even Robert Bork, whose own nomination under President Ronald Reagan was scuttled, faced public opposition this severe. In the last poll taken during the Bork confirmation fight, thirty-eight percent wanted to see him confirmed versus thirty-five percent who did not.

All other nominees polled by CNN—Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, John Roberts and Samuel Alito—enjoyed wide margins of public support.

I don't understand the objection to Sotomayer as a Supreme Court justice... She is female and Puerto Rican, isn't she? Those are the exact same qualifications the future goddess/president of NMSU brings to the job. The fact that neither Sotomayer or Waded's supporters can find any other qualification besides being a double-point minority shouldn't stand in their way. Isn't it time that this nation realized that if only women minorities were allowed to hold public office then we would have no more war, no crime, no hunger, no poverty...?

I thank God that the legacy of national white supremacist bigotry is everywhere being revealed for the coverup of fundamental moral inadequacy that it is. Now that minority citizens wishing to do so are making their bones through hard effort, education and service to their country, unproductive, derogatory, base slurs ring out from those very ones claiming (supposed) racial superiority. Yet minority citizens continue to show their ability to self-edify and increasingly prosper despite economically impoverished backgrounds and a hobbled economy. Supremacist hecklers do not leave a very appealing impression of themselves on the world stage with their inability to rise to the challenge of an equal serving. And yes, I am a liberal Puerto Rican professional. As for the Mexicans, I have no problem with them having citizenship as long as they are willing to face shots fired in anger for the defense of this country as members of my family and I have, otherwise, no free lunch.
