It's sad, 31,110 people register to vote in this city and only 4,122 people vote for mayor. What's ever sadder is that Guidi won by only 110 votes, this is just a testament that every single vote counts in these city elections, now we are stuck with Guidi for another 2 years.

Congratulations to Council Members English and Vargas. Job well done and job well done to the voters who voted for them. To the voters who voted in Guidi: Not so well done. But that's OK, Guidi might just be an impotent lame-duck now. Change is a comin' and to the "fat old-guard" - get used to it. I will enjoy watching you nefarious individuals squirm when Juarez, English, Vargas, Huber, unite in transparent government and an equitable and fair platform for all. Take note current power-base: you might just get knocked down or better yet, OUT.

I hope with the new council members they can vote that there has to be a limit to how many terms a mayor can have. It's time for a change and 2 more years with Guidi as a mayor is horrible. The snake survived but with new eyes maybe he can be exposed. Citizens of Hawthorne we need to get in more involved in voting its our right and the benefit to all. Danny you will succeed maybe we should hand count these votes to confirm he is really the winner.

Congratulations to all the winners of yesterday's election. The Citizens of Hawthorne have spoken. Best wishes for a good term in office, to All.
No need for term limits, that's why we have elections.

We knew Mayor Guidi would prevail despite this slanderous campaign. The people of hawthorne have spoken and they are chanting "Guidi" through the streets! His work has brought big companies to Hawthorne which have employed much of my family.

I look forward to more progress with Mayor Guidi!

I'm grateful that at least we have Juarez, vargas and english on council but talk about citizens having no clue when it comes to guidi and how many did not vote at all. Their heads were clearly stuck in the sand. Your a good man Danny Juarez. This will be the small step forward that will lead to better days.

Its just a shame after all thats said and done opponents of Guidi cant lose with any class.

Sad, petty comments that they should put under their pillow and make a wish.

Glad to hear Guidi will serve his city again!

The good news is that there is a majority of clear minded council members with good intentions for our city. Now, let's all get to work!

as expected, all the guidi supporters who barely posted anything prior to the election will now come out from under their pillows and type in victory. one right thing guidi does, does not make 5 bad things ok. I wonder what kind of new car guidi will be driving in the next few weeks...what kind of wool is that over their eyes?? Lambert wool??

I thought Guidi time in office should have ended. 9 years in Office he should stand down. It is time for some new blood to get into Hawthorne politics. I used to know Danny Juarez and felt that at that time,, he was running for the School Board, that he would do a good job. I still feel that way.. I really wanted Danny Juarez to win.. Oh well, that's local politics for you..

Notice how now that Larry has lost control of the council majority and says we are in a real mess. Up until last night we were all living in a garden paradise built by him. Well Danny came closest to beating Guidi in head-to-head contest than anyone ever has before, that obviously shows something about his ability to run a campaign. What is more, he will return to the council, most likely as Mayor Pro-Tem, to lead the new council majority of educated community leaders along with a real servant of the people as city clerk. As far as I am concerned, with or without Guidi as Mayor, last night was still a victory for the good guys. Guidi is irrelevant now.

I am soooo disappointed that Danny Juarez didn't win, he sure was close though. I thought we finally have a chance to get rid of all the "questionable ethics" and the "if you help me,. I will help you garbage that has been going on for wayyy to long in this city. He has gone unopposed for too long because he has everyone in his pocket. I personally thank Danny for taking on this difficult challenge and giving it his all! Thank you Danny - boy was it close - Great job! At least we were able to get change in the city council and I think Danny had a large part in that. Hopefully we can now have a much better city with their involvement.

It's too bad they don't have a "judge it" choice that says "SORE LOSERS". Instead of supporting and wishing our Mayor Guidi well, folks like you just go on and on and on and on with your bashing. Get over it and get on with it. It's not even worth reading or viewing these blogs anymore 'cause there's so much NEGATIVITY, SARCASISM AND INSULTS. Wallow in your own mire, I'm outta here.

To the person "Holly G"... Are you taking crazy pills? Vargas and English are NOT in anyone's pocket, especially Guidi. They are the people's choice, and friends of Hollyglen.

Did anyone see that Alex Vargas got more total votes than Guidi? He's the peoples' champion, and will work for what's best for Hawthorne. It's a new day.
