The issue is not about doing. It's about buying. No such plant is planned for Portugal. We do not do more because of countries like you as well as the EU impediments.

Going green is always a good option. I am just curious about the engine power of this car and the weight of the battery.

It has to be better than those hundreds of loud 50cc scooters with a family of four polluting the villages.

I stand for that. Also stand for presonal car driving restrictions. High oil prices while in Portugal, people only think about owning a car and driving.

Portugal is the most dangerous country in the European Union for bad driving and car collisions, many times worse than the others.
If you go there on vacation be careful!

Outdated information, my dear. The number of road fatalities reduced a lot in the last 8 years. Now, Spain, Greece and all the Estern Euro countris have higher accidents per capita than Portugal.

I really hate when the Portuguese come out with self flagelation.

That would mean that people are driving older cars, therefore increasing the risk of accidents. People are indeed driving less. One can see in Portugal the number of cars with a piece of paper mentioning a phone ner (they're on sale due to lack of money). Loads and loads.
Gas is at over 1.50 euros. In Spain it's much less.

Only 70% of the folk in Portugal have a car. The percentage is however higher than in some richer W European countries.

But also the roads have improved a lot, exactly as to get rid of that bad rap of having bad roads. The motorways, albeit toll roads, are now in a better condition than the ones in Spain. Take the Lisbon-Algarve A2 for example, excelent road.
Also people drive defensively. You do not see in any other country drivers slowing down and stopping their cars to let you cross a road even when you're not in a zebra, or there's a red light for pedestrians.

We have a bigger country blocking the way. That's why we only see Spain as outside world. Economy of pairs? Yes. Sloveni... sorry, Russi... oops!... Slovakians have 5 neighbours. We only have one.

Nor much fish in the sea, neither enough cheap diesel to power fishing boats.
Sardines come from Morocco, Cod from Norway, Crustaceans from Scotland, Mozambique, New Zealand and... Russia. The other fish - scabbard, red fish, mackerel, swordfish, hake - comes from everywhere in the open ocean.

This year is a good one for tourism: very hot 'n sunny. Last year it was crappy.
And I am in the Balkans eh eh eh!
