Yes NOWWWWWW the book is labeled as being fiction and NOWWWWWWW the authoriship is in doubt. I should hope so since this sick anti-Polish author admitted the whole book was a fraud right before his death.

But much of the big lies of this book was marketed at the time as the TRUTH and NEVER REFUTED by those who pushed it. The racist anti-Polish notions of this book then took on a life of their own, especially in ethnic Jewish newspapers.

Racist anti-Polish notions from this book, like Poles were collaborators of the Nazis etc. have only festered and spread and seen as TRUTH by some people because the BIG LIE technique used to push this anti-Polish hatred was so successful.

Why didn't "MORAL" people like Elie Wiesel refute this book (when he found out it was a hoax) after he said the Painted Bird was a "GOOD BOOK" on the Holocaust?

Why didn't the New York Times EVER SAY that the book was FICTION?? Why was this book pushed as fact at the time and WHEN it was DISCOVERED that it was a hoax, WHY DIDN'T ALL those who participated in strongly pushing it as virtual fact SAY THAT IT WAS A HOAX and that IT WAS NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN AS information that "ACCURATELY PORTRAYED THE HOLOCAUST??? Why wasn't this ever done? Because the Holocaust Industrialists who pushed it are filled with VIRULENT anti-Polish anti-Catholic, Anti-Christian, anti-Slavic HATRED!

If this book was so "FICTIONAL" then why have so many Poles been the target of the anti-Polish hate propaganda that this anti-Polish author pushed??

Why was the INNOCENT and DECENT Polish family that saved this Jewish author's life (at the risk of the Polish family being killed by the Nazis) the victim of such hatred if this book was "FICTIONAL"?? What is being said about Michael Savage about his comments on autistic kids is inaccurate and taken out of context. The source of these criticisms about Michael Savage are coming from hard-leftists and Stalinists. He recently had some good conversations with some of his critics just recently on the air.

Savage has basically said that SOME people have fraudlently claimed that their kids were autistic or border line autistic to collect special funds from the government. Savage has said he has TOTAL SYMPATHY for all kids, especially autistic kids, since his own dead brother Jerome was autistic. That's the sad thing about these anti-Michael Savage criticisms.

Long story short, what is being said about Michael Savage and his comments on Autistic kids is being distorted and taken out of context.

Michael Savage is a flawed man but as he said, "What would he have to gain by bashing Autisitic kids". Savage is only criticising those who are exploting autistic kids.

Yeh its easy for you to talk tough about Poland should have "liberated itself from the Soviets" when nobody could have done that right after WWII. But it did eventually do that 45 years later.

All the guy is saying is that Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe were sold out by FDR & Truman at Yalta despite fighting along with the allies in all areas of the war.

Everyone knows that, including British Historians like Norman Davies and American historians like Ralph Peters.

Growing up in the 1960's & 1970's, I've known many veterans of World War II. They never talked about what they did. They never referred to themselves as heroes - they just did what they had to do, which was their duty. I knew a man, a short-statured South Philadelphia Italian-American who served in World War II in the 30th Infantry Division of the US Army, who died in 2006. I never would have guessed that he was decorated for bravery with one Silver Star and six Bronze Stars for his heroics in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany in 1944-45. I learned about his past when his daughter went through his effects after he died and she found the medals and citations in a box - she never knew about him either. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on October 13, 2006, on the 62nd anniversary of his heroic action which earned him his Silver Star. He had died two weeks earlier. A silent hero.

My father and his family were slave laborers who were taken from their native Poland to Nazi Germany. All died in their 40's and 50's from illnesses and conditions contracted at that time. Neither they nor my Mom, Sister, and I have ever received any reparations from Germany. We are Roman Catholic - so, I see your point and I'm very bitter about that issue, too.
