why are poles so weak?

A question i have been wondering for a very long time.. why are the poles so weak?? their country (whatever you want to call it) was overran by countless of people, the germans, the russians and even by the asians... why make these people so weak compared to the rest of Europe????

As for Poland being overrun by the Germans and the Russians you have to remember ONE thing. POPULATION SIZE (Poland had a MUCH smaller population then its neighbors). Poland also had a Perfect Storm of bad luck against it based on its historically bad location (although today its considered to be in a good location).

Russia during WWII had well over 100 MILLION PEOPLE. Germany had 70 MILLION people and Poland had less then 29 million people and about 4-5 million of those people were non-Poles who half the time undermined Poland.

Everything comes down to perspective. Actually I think Poland RELATIVELY SPEAKING is a strong country when you consider TWO POWERHOUSE NATIONS failed to wipe it off the face of the map forever.

During the 1500s Poland was the largest country in Poland with a relatively SMALL population.

Poland today is in the position of being a powerhouse High Tech country while only being a medium sized European nation of 40 million people (according to the Dec 12 2005 Business Week Magazine edition). It is starting to compete with much larger nations such as China and India which have over a BILLION people each. Also the small East European nations near Poland are doing pretty well themselves.

So how could UNDERDOG Poland be doing all of this? Answer: Polish Power.

Although Poland has its problems like any other nation, today RELATIVELY speaking Poland is definitely not a weak nation.

ON a PER CAPITA BASIS Poland has been becoming a competitive nation since the fall of communism.

Speaking about communism, the reason why SOVIET communism fell FIRST in Poland is not because it was a weak nation.

I've been working or rather trying to work in Poland since last August and the ridiculous amount of mistrust, lying and general hiding and underhanded way people do business it's no wonder the rest of Europe takes the piss. I've had 1 reply to my post and that was bollocks.

There is a Polish company based in the UK that is trying to work with Poles to invest in Poland and their future. Unfortunately they are coming across the same level of ignorance and distrust here as they do in Poland. This is partly due to the fact that many Poles in the UK are of the older generation and still have old fashioned views of Poland, or they have inherited land or property in Poland and are leaving the dealings to relatives at home.
