There are zero visas available for pinoy nurses who want to immigrate to the US. The road is closed, with no end in sight. But hundreds of thousands of pinoy nurses all want to go. And only 10,000 visas allocated to the RP annually. You do the math.

I guess the Americans are no longer impressed with the attitude of Pinoy nurses. Secondly, I also guess, it is the educational system in the Philippines going in mediocrity and the inability of young Filipinos today to speak and write English. Thirdly, I am still guessing, it could be the corrupted nursing professional regulations exams that disgust the US embassy in manila. I am also guessing that so many nurses have faked board exams results. And, finally, you can actually buy nursing degrees at Recto University from as little as US$2.50 and you can have it laminated for US$0.10 cents. I guess also that 'Desperate Housewives' was right. Perhaps, what Desperate Housewives want are graduates from Burkina Faso, Eretria, and Timor where you find true TLC transcripted 'florence-nitingaled' nurses.

The problem with pinoys is the bandwagon mentality. If a lechon manok business booms, next thing you know all the folks down the street have set up lechon manok stalls. As a result, there are now too many ambitious students being turned out by substandard nursing schools, dollar signs shining in their eyes. Well, I hate to rain on your parade, but most of you WILL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE USA because there are simply too many of you. Better if you go home and plant camote.

There is still a shortage of U.S. nurses. More immigrants, undocumented aliens, tourists are coming in and more nurses are retiring.
I don't know where sokolow got his story but it's not true at all. He's in the Philippines therefore he doesn't see what's happening here in the U.S.
The U.S. needs more nurses and they're paying good salaries.
Future nurses of the Philippines. Don't be discourage of these crab mentality Pinoys. You have a chance to achieve your desires.

There is no future for pinoy rns in the US now. No visas available. So all you students and parents with dollar signs in your eyes can just shelve your gayagaya putomaya me-too mentality.

Who is sonbritikoy?
Why does he hide behind this ridiculous pseudonym?
My assessment is the 'son' stands for his being the offspring of somebody. Does 'brit' equate to his being part British. And maybe the 'tikoy' segment reflects an affinity for that sticky sugary snack. Re those newsettes about supply and demand for nurses from the old country. We still produce legitimate and qualified nurses from the Philippines as evidenced by appreciative patients and health institutions in the United States.
It might be expedient though for 'sonbritikoy' to shed his anonymity to better assess his qualifications.

There is a future for all in America :) It is ok to see dollar signs. All of us in America see dollar signs. There is no harm in trying to make a honest living that will pay good salary. Keep your hope alive and you too will succeed in any country you explore. Asians,Whites,Blacks all have the same mentality. We are all humans :)

its not only nursing profession that will suffer because of over population my friend. the earth is deteriorating ever faster and can not keep up with the needs that 6,000,000,000 + people demands. philippines is catching up with bangladesh in density of population for the land area within its boundaries. its okay to be optimist in the face of adversity but this one is real and an almost irreversible one.

be kind to your fellowmen, your aspirations in getting there are the same with others will. remember that planting camote is the reason why many filipinos have become known globally, hence being one is a pride of becoming a RN.....

sonbritikoy is a good example of a person who has no self confidence. Do not use sonbritikoy as an example people. Follow your dreams.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aries

It's one of those days when you'd be wise to mind your Ps and Qs if you want to avoid putting both feet in it or feeling like a fool. The trouble is that you're finding it hard to think before you speak, and you're rushing into situations without thinking about the possible consequences. All you can do is to apologize and try your hardest not to let it happen again.
