The U.S. allows military ships from all over the wold to port in the U.S. to refuel and supply as do other countries. Why is it that the Philippines has to be so paranoid and hard headed especially when it's in their interest to protect the Spratly's. Fu@k the Philippines let them hang on their own. Too stupid to even accept help unless it's free cash. But they have to give something in return for their protection. GIVE SOMETHING!!!!!! OH FU@K NO!!!!

If the shet ever hits the fan with China/America 1st thing that will vanish are American bases in Japan and Okinawa. China owes them "Japan" an ass-kicking from ww11. If that happens no major bases for the USA in the Pacific except Guam. Now the Philippines looks good for the US Navy.

As far as active combat goes Subic Bay is the worse place to have a base. Narrow entrance with an island right in the middle would be like shooting fish in a barrel for the Chinese. This is not like WWII. With precision guided long range munitions on both sides around a small island like the Philippines is the reason for no bases. It would be a carrier war and China has just one.

There would more then likely be no combat in Subic or on any of the Islands in the PI. America would only need the PI for resupply and repair. We have what 12 Carrier Battle groups still on the Navy s Rosters but all over the world. China has maybe two Carriers and one or two more being built but a shet load of subs and surface ships, long range bombers and many fighters. Lets just hope it never comes to a shooting conflict.

There are many countries in the area that are more than happy to have a carrier group call in for fuel, supplies and R&R. They are all want the dollars it brings in. If China ever attacked Japan I think everyone will be worrying about more than bases in the Philippines.

For repair? Are you serious? Have you ever had a Filipino try and repair your aircon or your car or your computer??? Would you really trust one with a nuclear powered carrier or submarine? You take your computer in here and it comes back with a cheap hardrive in it because they stole and sold your good one. Or your car goes in for a service and the tyres and battery are swapped for something cheaper. Alway's take a photo of everything before you send it for repair and write down the serial numbers.

China's not about to do anything in the very near future except continue to build up their Army, Navy and Air forces. They wont do a damn thing until their strength is close to Americas and that's still a long ways off but at a steady growth rate in their military they will close the gap then watch out.

It's all in how you look at thye big picture. Some look at the glass half full while others look at it half empty. FS68 has choosen to look at it half full with a cold one in the fridge lol. If youre gonna spend the time here might as well be positive about it. Personally I think it's a bit much at times but thats just my opinion. I would think he is happier looking at everything in that shade

I can't exactly remember but I read in one news article something about China's capability to blow up satellites. I wonder how America's overall military agility and strength would be affected if China starts shooting down satellites when push comes to shove.

America has their own maintenance Techs. and repair crews they only need the ports for dry dock, resupply and what not. So no one is talking of letting Filipinos do the work.

So no one is talking of letting Filipinos do the work. I was joking!! But seriously it would cost billions to upgrade the facilities in Subic to be able to repair a US navy ship there. It will never happen. They even carted the "Cole" half way around the world to repair it. Posted on Monday, July 4th, 2011 "Subic, Zambales: Some 500 workers from Hanjin Shipyard protested against alleged unfair labor practice and maltreatment of workers inside the shipyard Sunday. The protest action in Subic was the end of a series of protest action against Hanjin Shipyard, the workers also trooped to the Korean Embassy and the Department of Labor and Employment in Manila before proceeding to Subic town in Zambales for its protest caravan. The protest caravan did not manage to get close to the shipyard gate in Subic town after it was blocked by members of the Zambales police. Instead CBCP represented by Bishop Broderick Pabillo held a mass along the national highway leading to Hanjin."
