Because they can make a lot more money than if they work at SM or Jollibee or some market stall for 12 hours a day. Wages are so pitifully low so it's hardly surprising that prostitution is so commonplace.

Is it really that hard to find a decent job over there? My boyfriends ex in the Philippines was one when he met her. they have daughter together and they are still in the Philippines, we worry that she will be getting into that line of work, because the mother doesn't work and has 2 other children and they are very poor. My boyfriends daughter is very beautiful and is seventeen now. The paperwork to get her to the States takes forever....so we wait and worry. Please someone put my mind at ease and tell me we have nothing to worry about.

What's their excuse when they go to another country filled with plenty opportunities other than prostitution to make a good living? Huh? Whey do they continue to wh*re themselves out when they reach the sunny shores of America? Huh? America has plenty opportunities to work at a job better than prostitution.

Nahhhh, not buying that whole "it's their poor economy and corrupt government and bad environment". They go to other countries and continue to do the same thing. Why? Because it's part of their poor character! They just like to take the easy way out. Laziness and bad morals. That's why.

bird,

There is work. I know girls that hop from one job to another here. I live here and my girls relatives do it all the time but the girls in the bar will always give the line that they had no choice.

Hell they work there to meet a foreigner and make good money its a choice of theirs. BUT!!! their is some in servitude to the contracts that got them out of their remote villages in Samar and other places sold by relatives. Many of those types live in the bar and not allowed to leave much. If they split the owners will then go back on the family and demand money, and not in a nice way.

The ones that just want to get married and get out many times, and they have a word for it, the first husband is called the stepping stone. divorce him once in the states and has a green card then tries to marry up. But how many American women do the same thing? Alot.

Sadly, for many of them, this is probably true. The alternative for many, seems to be just give it up to a pinoy boyfriend that runs out, when she turns up pregnant anyway.....

Go Blue,

I have not seen it. They are smarter than that as its easier to marry up and much more profitable. Thats only some. The drug thing isn't so prevalent among Filipinas as the fear of needles as you know keeps that stuff down.

Now gambling is something else, they wont hook for it of course. Now were talking about the bad ones, few as they are.

In all societies when you talk about prostitution hookers are a whole different segment of society. Some say its different here and the effects on the girl but thats not true. They just dont show it so much. But marry them and after awhile I promise those issues of abuse will come out just like any girl from any country that prostituted. Acting out in destructive manners, affairs, gambling and alcoholism seem to make their way to the surface.

They say were as sick as our secrets and a Filipina in the states that hides she was a hooker gets pretty sick.

yeah, I do. See it a lot. Go to San Diego. It's rampant there. And the biggest proof is my husband's ex. When she got over here, she started going from one man to the next all while she was married to my husband. She still does. She uses them for money and a place to stay and of course sex. They use her for sex and not much else. When my husband met her she worked on base overseas at the exchange. He thought she was a nice enough woman to marry her, but when they divorced it turned out he found out that the exchange job was just one job she had. At night she was at the bars offering sex to the sailors and GI's for money. He found out that and all kinds of other ugly things about her.

Now, we hear all the stories from the other sailors my husband works with that got with Pinays, some even married them. We have known about 10 that have married them too. Only 1 is still happily married.

Anyway, go to San Diego. You can see it in the bars near the bases. My husband's unit used to tell stories about those girls.

Bird, that is the best thing you can do. Get your boyfriend's daughter over here as soon as you can. My husband's daughter would be in big trouble had he not gotten custody of her and his son from his ex. She continues to live a bad life and God knows what would have happened to them if he had not taken sole custody and given the judge proof of the mother's wh*ring ways. Only thing different is that his ex was already over here so it was easy for him to get proof to justify his sole custody. Your boyfriend's ex is over there plus the girl is already of legal age. But best you can do is get her out of the grasp of her bad mother.

American women don't need green cards, so I don't understand your comment about American women. Unless you are refering to the whole "marrying up" thing. I agree some American women are guilty of that. But we are not talking about American women here, we are discussing why do Filipina's resort to prostitution.

I have known a couple of Philippine girls who could not get work in SM because they were considered too small. One of them was top of her school but she still has problems finding a job because of her height.

That's totally sad, imagine being top of your class, but cannot get a job because your only 4'8".....we have laws in the states, whereby they can't discriminate over height....

If your referring to Filipinas in the states Ive never seen them prostitute. Most are great wives. I had more trouble out of American women than Filipinas.

Lot of American women make great wives too. Just need to hang out in the right crowd. Maybe a more classy group.

I've known very few Filipinas that are decent people. Out of the 10 or so women I have known, 2 are good decent women. I'm talking about the military aspect of it too, so therein lies a different dynamic. Never met any Filipina that was married to an American guy, not affiliated with the military in any way.

I think what happens in the case of the military is they patronize the bars and dredge up the bottom of the barrel in that aspect (aren't bar girls the bottom of the barrel in any country?) and then they get into the troubles that go along with that element.

My husband's ex put up a good front, pretending she was a classy, hard working person, but behind it all she still frequented bars. He got suckered into it by deceit. He ended up learning the hard way like so many others.

Those that consider ALL Filipinas innocent sweet and good hearted are just as dumb as those that consider ALL American women lowly, trampy, bottom feeders. They are going on misguided information and are ready for the picking as far as scams.

Have a good day.

Gator Girl, are you ever concerned about how you look, coming on a Philippine forum, with the sole purpose of putting down pinays. It seems to be solely based on the fact that you hold a grievance with your husband's exwife, and possible assorted women close to a military base environment. Do you ever catch your breath and stand back and look at the things you say on here?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
