As usual the laws passed have no chance of being enforced. Perhaps changing some of our misguided laws would be the answer. Or hire 2,000 more inspectors to check for every speck of dust. Doesn't the state realize that if I walked into a shoddy,or buggy,or filthy restaurant, that I'd just walk out again?

I would suggest to anyone that feels local Health Departments don't work hard enough, should spend at least one day shadowing a Health Inspector or Sanitarian. Be sure to bring at least an N95 respirator, a few sets of latex gloves, a large metal flashlight that can be used as weapon, a two way radio to call Police for back up when threatened by landlords, tenants, angry restaurant owners with knives, crack addicted housing inspection residents, etc. Bring a TYVEK suit and more respirators for the cat lady house clean ups,the lead inspections that contaminate you and the clothes you bring home to your children, and the suspicious packages with that unknown white powder leaking out the bottom. Restaurant inspections are only a fraction of the Sanitarian's daily duties. In 13 years of doing the job, I never met a Sanitarian that wasn't 100 percent committed to the work.

DPH really needs to look at all the towns. Most of in violation. Look at the small towns along the shore and CT River. Westbrook who knows when they were last inspected. Essex has no inspector. Deep River is finally get inspected because they joined a regional health department. Chester and Killingworth who knows. The state needs to get their act together and start calling towns and districts on their inspections

They should hire Mexicans to do the inspections, it will keep down the coast and it will help keep the Chicanos employed. In Hartford there are Mexican to boot! and the trash PR’s ,,,well they only want to sell or do drugs and shoot each other anyway.
