Palau mourns death of first soldier killed in Iraq

Correct me if I'm wrong but we were once oppressed right? WWII anyone? From Totalitarian to democracy? hmmmmm...I wonder how we got out of that? Who fought for our freedom and why we are we still free..believe me if nobody stepped in over 50 years ago we wouldn't be on this site mouthing off our personal opinions. It is a volunteer military, no one forced us to join..Yes I wear the "US ARMY" tab on my chest but I am serving my country, PALAU. I am thankful my country is free, I intend to keep it that way and I am willing to "extend" the invitation to those who need it..We are all destined to die, at least when I do it was for something I believe in...

I join to protect my people and my country... and yea the US military are the reason why we have our freedom...... i could not forget those soldiers who fought for our land and our freedom.. i will stand along with them to protect their country and mine too... one team one fight..

interesting question..palau has a compact of free association with the U.S. therefore they can join the military. u.s. military recruiter recruits a lot of pacific islander each year with a promising great benefit being told to them that they would get. same thing with the aussie, why the aussie join the brits in the war?
