the company in the philipines who preparing the paper works for the workers looking for work outside of the philipines are the one whos telling the people that they are going to in a country under us. most of them charge too much money so they people whos looking for work don't have enough money to pay for the fees. they charge them 30,000 pesos or more to find them a job everseas. its cheaper for them to fly to these countries as a tourist and try and look for a job. they fond out that thats the best way to find a job coz its cheaper that way. you can fly to palau for less than three hundred dollars, round trip and stay with any philipino in palau for three months and look for a job. it is the system in the philipines that makes it hard for the philipino, they find the easy way to better their life. palau will hire someone who need a job and who lives in palau and will help them with require paper works so they can start earning money so they can help their families back home. remember in the philipines they can only make four dollars a day and will only work for six months and they have to look for a new job. they will sell their properties in the province and use the money to travel to palau hoping to get a job where they can make twenty dollars a day.

I lived in Palau for almost two years and speak the language. I can't believe that you are still looking down to the people that helps build your country. Do you really think that Filipinos are inferior than Palauans? If some filipinos are attracted in working in Palau, that is just because of the exchange rate of the US dollars. That's it. Filipinos are not inferior to Palauans in all aspects, by blood and by education as it shows on how you spelled your words. Next time that you use "yuck" in reference to Filipinos, better educate yourself more about Philippines and the contributions that they give to your island, to the U.S. economy and to the world. Just a little respect sechelik. One more thing, just in case you don't know what manong and manang mean, they refer to elder brother (obuguk) and elder sister (udelek) in Ilocano.

I cannot believe the racist comments on this page. You should be ashamed of yourselves. We have no control over where we are born: It is an act of pure chance. I am not a Filipina, I am British, I am also human and deplore such attitudes.

I wonder why there are no negative comments regarding Palauans marrying Japanese, Taiwanese, Americans (Afro-Americans/caucausans), Bangladese, Chinese, etc? Is it because most Filipinos who are working at Palau are domestic helpers and carpenters and maybe uneducated that's why they think Filipinos is not a good race to be mixed with? Who and why are Palauans marrying Filipinos anyway? Are there no more marrying age Palauan male and female thats why Filipinos are now being sought for? Or is it because of the Palauan customs "Siukang" thats why Palauans are not marrying their own kind? Or is it that there is so much infedelity "laokreng" among each other thats why they're now looking for another race who tend to be loyal to their partners till death do us part?

There are a number of reasons why there are so many undocumented Filipino workers in our country--The three most "guilty" fot his are:
Philippine Immigration Department for allowing illegally recruited (those not being hired through a licensed Recruitment Agency)workers to pay one of the Immigration Officers at the Manila airport $180 to bypass legal departure rules. They make a lot of money doing this.
The POEA which is the Overseas worker office for knowing this is happening and allowing it for not all the $180 paid stays with Immigration--it is shared. EASY MONEY
The Palau Philippine Ambassador for he is preoccupied with getting as many workers to Palau through his daughter as they can and making as much money on the side as he can before he rotates out. Also, when the Overseas Worker Welfare Office comes here to "legitimize) the undocumented workers every so often, that office and the Amb make some good cash in pocket so to them, the more undocumented workers that arrive on our shores, the better.
This problem is not a problem caused by us or our Government Officials-for undocumented workers coming here do not violate any of our laws--it is plain and simple corruption and disrespect of the laws by their Government Officials.

You know we wouldn't have this problem if we(palauans) would get off our butts and do things for ourselves. We are now complaining about how foreigners are overrunning our country but who let them in in the first place? Most of the jobs that are provided really are chores!S!@t we can do for ourselves..For example, a domestic helper..3 words..LAZY,LAZY,LAZY..Sad to say we put our noses up thinking we are inferior, too busy to commit ourselves to housework..too good more or less..that we have to pay somebody to do it for us...while we struggle making minimum wage.

Thanks anyway concerned citizen. You're right, Sukrii should answer my question...I hope she would. Anyway, I am a Filipino who have lived in Palau for many years and I think I know why Palauans marry Filipino/Filipinas but what I seem not to understand is why Sukrii, who have lived at the states, still bring up those racist comments. My apologies for bothering you concerned citizen.

Sukrii can read your response. I have nothing against palauans. I love the general palauan people. For people like sukrii, I hope you will just be more careful and more considerate before making irresponsible racist comments to any nationality. Beltik a renguk ra kau Klebkl el Belau!!

I am a Palauan, born and raised...proud..I have lived outside of Palau for many years but I have not forgotten my roots..that being not to discriminate and not be so ignorant. Maybe most younger generations dont know but sukrii's mentality is that of what the japanese thought of us when they took us over. There was a law pertaining to Jap/Palauans, Japanese males can have relations with local females(also called Rape nowadays) but not the other way around...why you ask..YUCK!They didnt want to contaminate their women and have YUCKY babies..We all know they considered themselves the inferior race.

Our genetic pool has been altered over the generations. Who is to say Sukrii is a true-blooded palauan?

My advice to Sukrii, go get educated first. For a controversial person you should be a lawyer or an activist, use your skills(words) for a better cause..instead of arrogance..it's a shame..

Thank you eltel ongos for the time spent explaining, I am enlightened and humbled. Now I know why the younger generations have this kind of mentality. I have noting against any Palauans eltel ongos. All my best friends are Palauans and I almost married one except that I messed up. Nevertheless, in spite of me being a Filipino, I am teaching my kids good Palauan traits such as; omengull, bekedengmes, etc. which I acquired while growing up. Thanks once again!
