The list of non-bailable offences would now include sexual exploitation, use of criminal force and outraging modesty of women. TOI asked some women whether this will really provide protection to women in society. Most of them said that announcing a stern law is not sufficient, what matters is the effective implementation of the law.

Sahina (name changed), a principal of a school in Jaunpur, dies due to severe burn injuries. She suffered serious burn injuries during self immolatation bid. Sexual exploitation by school manager Ranbir Singh forced her to take the extreme step. She was admitted in a hospital in Jaunpur on Wednesday and later shifted to a hospital in Allahabad where he died today.
