Both Iran and Venezuela has been subjects of a US led coup. Both have chosen to drop the US dollar from their oil transactions. In February, Iran and China will finalize a multi billion dollar deal which will exclude US dollars.

Today the IAEA inspectors are in Iran, by invitation. They are there to verify if Iran has installed or acquired materials that can be used to make nuclear bombs.

If this inspections shows that the Iranian nuclear plants are built for electricity only and are in compliance with existing international laws governing the building and use of nuclear energy plants, then Bush's argument about nuclear weapons will be as invalid as Saddam's weapon's of mass destruction.

Think about it. Ahmadinejad has left Iran while the inspectors are there. He is not concerned about what they will find. He seems to be confident that they will find that the nuclear plants are equipped for electricity only.

The US domination of the world seems to be changing. Other countries want to be treated as sovereign nations without US influence. It’s very interesting to see how the leaders of the US responds to other countries that want the same thing that the US wanted in 1776 -- independence to be a sovereign country.

Ahmadinajad is the world's isolated leader of Iran that had to cross the ocean to find his only friend in the world Chavez four months after his previous visit in Venezuela.
They are the world’s most known bullies that try to buy their friends in the world by means investing their oil revenues in South American countries for ousting US interests from South America.
They both interested in increasing the OPEC oil price that was decreasing during the last months due to excess oil in the world market, by reducing production. The Iranian regime of Ahmadinajad that needs to pay for the IEDS, missiles and nuclear WMDs that it purchase for the islamic terrorists, is suffering from the sharp reduction on oil sales revenues that were used by Iran to fuel islamic terrorists attacks and sectarian wars all over the Middle East.
Chavez who is starting to nationalize most of the private operations in Venezuela is becoming dictator similar to Castro.
Chavez vows to make Venezuela a socialistic communistic country like Cuba and he is purchasing military aircraft and munitions in his effort to destabilize South America, using oil sales revenues from US.
Venezuela and Iran are the worse enemies of US in the world by supporting Islamic terrorists in the Middle East and around the world.
The evil Iranian regime of Ahmadinajad is supporting Islamic terrorists in Iraq, Lebanon, and Gaza against US troops and US interests in the Middle East and making all efforts to oust US troops from the Middle East.
It is time for US troops to start retribution in Iraq to the Iranian Islamic terrorists of the Mehdi Army that are killing hundreds of US troops in Iraq by IEDS.
It is about time for US to stop purchasing oil from Venezuela and reduce Chavez aggression in South America.

Great post.

The US kills democracy in Iran and then installs a shah-puppet, then we shoot down a commercial Iranian Air flight and kill 288 innocents, now we want to invade them after surrounding their country with soldiers and weapons and we wonder WHY they don't trust us?

get off oil and all this will be alot easier. Remove the funds and their plans will not be able to go forward. Iran can't even meet its own oil production goals and peak oil is near. They realize the urgency of their position and conservatives in an effort to look strong and keep their companies rich are more then willing to fuel the anti-american fire by constantly threatening Iran and proving Ahamadinajad and his insane retoric correct.

You are correct – Chavez has stated that he will nationalize Venezuela’s energy and its utilities.

Every country does not want to be a part of Bush’s New World Order. If the country is not a supper power their only protection is to nationalize the natural resources. Let us not forget that it was a US company, Bechtel's corporate greed that claimed the rights to all of the water in Cochabamba, Bolivia including rain water and well water.

Right now nationalizing natural resources is a smart move.

http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/13/news/internat...
"We have decided to nationalize the whole Venezuelan energy and electricity sector, all of it, absolutely all," Chávez said in his annual state of the nation address to parliament, potentially opening up more projects for state acquisition in the No. 4 crude exporter to the United States.

According to a report in Investment magazine, the oil sands in Canada are beginning to produce petroleum. And is expected to cost less than
oil from wells, thus easing the stranglehold on us by the hostile/dubious sources we now purchase from. The estimated reserves of these sands exceed the TOTAL of all OPEC countries combined. Some 3trillion+ bbls in all.If Production goes as planned,in a few years dependence on current petro suppliers could be insignificant. One could hope it will be so.

I look forward to the day when issues can be discussed without the threat of being called anti-American. I am a US citizen with no religious ties. In the US we can openly discuss any issue or report. The fact that you believe that free speech should not be allowed, shows that you do not understand or respect the US Constitution.

finding more oil isn't the point. Bottom line is that it is going to run out soon. I think we both agree we won't change the "car culture", so we have to change what fuels those cars.
The oil companys made big noise about finding oil in the gulf this summer but if all that oil we out of the ground and turned into gasoline right now, it would only last 12 days.

You are correct. Iran like the rest of the world has to prepare for peak oil. The nuclear plants that they are trying to build will be needed to furnish electricity to the Iranians that have become accustomed to having their energy needs subsidized.

Just last week Iran had to stop the shipment of natural gas to Turkey for a few days because they did not have enough for both Iran and Turkey.

http://www.energybulletin.net/24594.html
Total domestic energy subsidies total $20 billion to $30 billion a year, Takin said.

And just like you, Iranian leaders criticized Ahmadinejad's confrontational handling of the standoff over Iran's nuclear programme.

Peak oil will hit the US sooner than some expected.

The consensus conclusion of the witnesses: the United States is in deep, deep trouble, facing the emergence of an “axis of oil” that threatens to recreate the bi-polar world of the Cold War, complete with Russia as a principal actor.
Robert Hormats supported Leverett’s analysis, saying that the U.S. was fighting “in a post-9/11 environment with a pre-9/11 energy policy.”

The US has already formalized the plan to create the North American Union, removing the borders and making Canadian and Mexican oil available for US consumption. The creation of the Amero combining of the currencies of the USA, Mexico and Canada will be ready before 2010 which is also the year the scientist has predicted that the world will reach peak oil.
