I am proud of Nukuleka. I think that this is one of the most beautiful place to visit. The main thing is.... Nukuleka is one of the village in Nuku'alofa Tongtapu. I am not from Nukuleka but I have been there and to be honest this is a nice place to visit.

I can only hope that constructive criticisms are not misconstrued as personal attacks, as I've tried humor as an icebreaker. Sometimes it works!!! I totally agree with your assessment however...

Kaliavakatau wrote: Lol, the problem here is that folks like TOA and TAMA don't seem to know the difference between theories and myths. I never asked any of you to accept that Polynesians are descended from the Lapita people. It is a theory that I've come to accept based on the rational evidence presented from the scholarly community. I also accept what Drs. Malama Meleisea, Penelope Schoefl, Mahina, Tupuola and others claim in THEIR conclusion that Samoans and Tongans most likely are descendants of the Lapita people and Lapita migration. Everyone is entitled to their own personal beliefs. TOA's claim that I cling to the Lapita people theory because it puts Tonga in position to be the origin of Polynesian culture is silly and laughable. Question: did Tongans even make a fuss when some of Samoans have been clamoring for decades that Samoa is the cradle of Polynesia? For Tongans it is a silly argument. When archaeologists claimed that Nukuleka is the birthplace of Polynesia, most Tongans I know were mildly surprised, but it wasnt as if anyone needed to brag about it or go beating our chests all around the Pacific with a false chip on our shoulders. Oh well, I guess its a big difference between Tongan and Samoan cultures. As for the false claim that Ahoeitu is the son of a Tui Manua, lol, Ive seen many of the writings from missionaries when they arrived in Samoa and Tonga and took down the oral history of both islands, there is no mention of this myth anywhere. William Mariner, who spent time in Samoa, never mentions such a myth. LOL, there is a reason for such a myth perpetuated by some people, but I won't get into it. High Chief Tasi Olaf Anderson gave us a big clue as to why this happens in Samoa and I guess I'll leave it at that.(laughing) You mention Tui Manu'a being the father of Tui Tonga wasnt mentioned anywhere are you sure you looked? As I am researching this I am coming across alot of old written info clarifying that original Kings of Tonga came from Eastern Samoa (Manu'a). I came across many old books stating the original Kings of Tonga came from Manu'a (Eastern Samoa). Here is 1 for you Kalia Book Dr. Lambert - A Doctor In Paradise Dr. Lambert Wrote: The Tubous (Tupou's) are the sole survivors of numerous native dynasties which the first white men found in the Pacific. The Tongan kingdom has outlived the greedy gobblings of western powers, and the people have kept their identity through every political crisis. The Tubous (Tupou's) have a past longer than that of any other ruling dynasty to-day. Their kings first came from Eastern Samoa, probably from Ta'u, which seems to have been the cradle of great Polynesian kings. Keep in mind Dr Lambert spent time with Tongan Royal Family members and learned alot of this from your people. Let me explain Tau in Eastern Samoa for you. Tau is in Manu'a Samoa. Tau is where Tagaloa first touched Earth. The first ever Tagaloa/Chiefly house was built on Tau called Fale Ula. The Fale Ula became the residents/palace of Tui Manu'a. Manu'a Samoa is the Birthplace of many Polynesia Kings.

Lol, Its a waste of time to be arguing about something when you don't want to look at other evidence. Let's just drop it already. This is an old and stale topic. You've made up your mind and that's that, once the mind is closed, there isnt much to talk about. As I've said, I'd be glad to give the Tui Manua serious consideration, but the scholarly work out there is just too vague. You must understand that Polynesian oral history is always going to be dynamic, changing and unrealiable. Polynesian chiefs told different stories in ancient times depending on political motivation or maintaining power and status for future progeny. Instead of focusing on oral stories, a much better way to understand Polynesian history is through ancient concepts, or cultural beliefs passed down through many generations. The Tongan concept of 'Hau' or great champion is a strong indicator of centralized rule. It is a concept many Tongans understand today. Whereas the concept of 'Toa' or great warrior simply applies to one great warrior among many. In other words, it applies to a collective or group effort to overcome great odds. In truth, both concepts apply to modern versions of Tongan and Samoan mentality. Hope that sheds some light on the subject.

This talk is all too much aye? From what I've been absorbing in my life we all have part Hamo part Tonga... From all the theories out there I have one which to me sounds alright. But we will never know the truth because if we do speak to our forefathers in the after life they will highly likely tell us their biased version of accounts. Lol! I guess we will know the truth someday from a very reliable source JESUS CHRIST. Here is the theory that I HEARD!!! Once upon a time we all lived together on one land lets say SAMOA. The governing body of the land decided to make a DEFENCE FORCE for the land and called it TOAGA. The TOAGA had to swear an oath or TAUTOGA. Where the TOAGA resided is now called TONGA. Through the times weaknesses of men corrupted the organisation and the TOAGA became an opposition to SAMOA hence TONGA was formed. So Tonga are descendants of DEFENCE FORCE PERSONELL most probably MARINES. That's the theory I lean towards and everyone can trash it for all I care. I am a TONGAN who has SAMOAN ancestory and its GREAT. All we ever do is fight eachother and when we get tired of that we fight eachother internally...Hehehe...
