We are launching New Social Network for Foreigners in Norway.
our new address is www.immino.no or foreignersinnorway.com Our research shows that English information on the web about Norway was lacking in some ways. The many websites, portals and forums about Norway are most in Norwegian language. There are almost none for foreigners to use in English. Our aim is to make people feel as welcome and comfortable as possible in Norway by providing vital information. So, you are more than welcome to become a part of our network. |

1 Thank you for the idea to creating that site. Good job. But I suppose you should’ve put a little more effort to express pros and cons evenly about Norway because someone might get the fake image that this country is the paradise itself. And they also could be frustrated when they’ll figure out later on - unlike you have described - Norwegian folks aren’t immaculate or the best dudes on the earth. Of course I can understand patriotism and respect it as well, but please…stay on the ground! |

1 I don't understand welcoming newbies while immigrants who have been living here are fleeing to other countries like the US and Britain. Norway is not a country for foreigners, sorry to say but reality and sugar coating are different matters. |

thanks a lot for your feedback. the project is very young and we just opened it for people to join. next week we begin promoting it all over the Norway. there are a lot of places where Norwegian can discuss things, but no places where people who are not fluent in Norwegian can share their ideas, or ask advice. We welcome all volunteers to help us to make it better,,to fill with information and as you told, pros and cons. By the way, there is nothing about patriotism here, I am not native Norwegian! This is why I came to this idea: when I came to Norway for 10 years ago, it was no help at all, no information, to place to find friends. So, we are welcome to all new ideas and to all new people who want to help us to make it right and better |

I am sorry to hear you are feeling this way, but I do not think this is true for everybody. Not all the Norwegians are the same way. Exactly like in any other country. As I mentioned above, I am not native Norwegian and have been living in this country for 10 years. I have a lot of friends and just people I know who are immigrants. Of course, some of them feel the same way as you, but some are happy and integrated. You do not understand welcoming newbies? But what do you actually suggest? To forbid people to come here? You can not change the society by just discussing thigs. You have to do something about it. |

Norway isn't fit for the human race except for ignorant specimens like you,you racist dipstick. |

1 You probably misunderstood me. I am not native Norwegian and I am not a racist, but I am frustrated how Norwegians treat foreigners. Immigrants in Norway are in the bottom economically. They are not welcome in the work place and no matter how many applications submitted, they are rejected. No competence or education matters as long as they are not W. European. The Eastern Europeans are exploited like slaves, though they are hardworking and competent. |
||||
I agree entirely. But I want to add one thing: even West Europeans don't fare much better. In fact -- surprise, surprise -- even Swedes get treated like poor cousins. For a fuller discussion of this and related topics, you might like to visit an established forum like: www.norwaytalk.com and read some of the horror stories there. |

That would be a good idea: to advise people to not waste their time and money coming to Norway. The problem is bullsh!t reports like that from the UNDP, which calls Norway the best place in the world to live. But the Norwegians are surly and hostile. The jobs entirely closed to foreigners. The road system sh!t (only Albania has worse roads). The much-vaunted medical system only 10th in the world. The educational system second-rate. So why do you want to "welcome" people to Norway? And what exactly does your "welcome" consist of? A few polite words? This does nothing to ameliorate the terrible discrimiation in the rental housing and job market. |

If you can not fit in Norway, it does not mean that everybody have the same problem. How about to think about this? I came to Norway for 10 years ago, I got my second degree here and I had no problems to find job and I must tell you, well paid job. So, the conclusion is: if you want to fit in the country, you will be able to do it and it is no matter if this is Norway or any other country. Now, you are trying to refer people to another forum. I can tell you, I read info on that forum and you can find such "horror" stories on a lot of forums: there are always people who are unsatisfied in life, who cannot fit and who, instead of trying to change, blame everybody else around them. I know a lot of people who could succeed in Norway. Yes, sometimes it is not easy, but show me the country where it will be easy? Try to live in Denmark and see how foreigners are treating there and tell something about Norway after that! |
|||
Who could succeed? For foreigners there are two job markets -- one small one for rare skills in the gas and oil industry, where there are no locals available, and one big one for the dead-end, minimum-pay, underclass jobs, which no self-respecting Norwegian wants to touch with a bargepole. Even foreign entrepreneurs face state discrimination: the authorities (including tax) coming down on them far harder than on Norwegians. And is Denmark some yardstick? All Scandinavia is bad. The worst is Denmark, followed by Norway and Sweden in joint second and third positions. Instead of presenting a manic smiley-face piece of false propaganda about Norway, why not tell some of the truth? It might save some poor sucker thousands of euros or dollars, and several months of lost time. Du må huske: Norge er bare for nordmenn. |

I can't make the wretched quote function work on this forum.
