It was all about cheap labour. Our involvement in the African Slave Trade was a mistake, but we abolished slavery quite quickly in our lands compared with Arabs and Africans, who still carry it on to this day.

America is a Corporate Capitalist Police State and is such a messed up place. You have 50% of the population without health cover,very high crime with a murder rate of 32k a year,massive obesity because there is no proper regulation of food industry, nearly 1 in every 100 is in prison,a large drug epidemic, millions homeless, socialism only for the elite with the huge 'bail outs' for the bankers, a place built on cheap fastfood takeaways etc etc On top of that you have your government telling other countries how to govern/configure a society?
