Listen bro, im 18 and im from Pakistan. I was born a muslim but now im more of a rationalist. The Islam that the community tried to teach me was full of flaws and biasedness. The details contradict the fundamentals and vice versa.
Modern-day Islam is majorly flawed(i dont think it is the only flawed religion but probably the most flawed of the major ones). Was it ever a perfect religion? I dont know. Muslims that i live with here are in some serious denial and i think this is pretty much the case of muslims all over the world.
From all the muslims i have encountered in my life:
80% of muslims openly support things that i find idiotic and pretty much the rest of the non-muslim world too.
10% At first glance they are fine. If you get into deeper discussion; after about 30 mins they will say something which will convince you that they too are not much different than the 80%
10% These people are actually okay. Who have had good education and thus perceive the world with a modern mind.
Just yesterday i was talking to these guys i know. One of them mentioned that it is not allowed to eat Christian chicken (lol), im like wtf?? So a muslims is allowed to mary a christian but not eat their meat/chicken etc? He replies only muslim men are allowed to marry christian women not vice versa. Im like wtf?? isnt that a weeeeee bit biased ;p? Guess what he replies, " Men(husband) can push/force women to you religion while women(wives) can force their husbands. At this point my brain melted, i wanted to kick his ass! but i didnt, i just said oh fuck you and gently ended the discussion ;p
So heres my advice to you the western world. When you meet them(muslims) give them a fare chance, treat them equal, dont outcast them. Only after you know them, you may make a judgement and the judgement should be specific to the individual not the whole community.
