I have lived in Kristiansand for over 7 years and I found it to be very boring. The people are small minded and like to stick their nose in other people buzz. There is no privicy, everyone know your buzz and they can't drink alcohol because they have no rules as far as making a complete fool out of them selfs . I restored a home and made a killing in capital gains. Now I live like a king in So. California and I don't miss 8 months of winter. Also, under Norsk law your life is only worth 21 years in prison no matter how many people that person kills and that's the law in Norski. The police are very slow to respond and there is a lot of violice at night, taxi lines night clubs, street, etc. SO be Careful and stay away from the muslims or the little Mecca part of town. Look if your like comfort your not going to find it in Norway unless your from a third world country. Also, they have no sports in their school system and the men are puny and weak, do to poor eating habits, like they fill up on bread all the time and the meat section is limited. The best of Norway is over. The 70's 80's were the best. Now all innocents is gone for ever. Norway has more Heoion over doses per capita than and country in Europe. Beware. The C.I.A. resently took Norway off the top 10 safest countries. I am a duel citizen and I could never give up my sunny happy days in California. GOOD LUCK SUCKER!
Heh! Your reasons are EXACTLY the reasons why I avoid America and the sunny California. I haven't been living in Norway in hope of getting some strange utopia. Does someone really think anything like that exists anywhere in the world? There are problems even in Bora Bora.
The reason why I love Norway is that compared to my own homecountry, the people are positive on the most part. They don't fret and fret for years about gone mistakes.

I'm an Australia citizen, I just spent a year working in Germany and am back in Australia.

I'm looking to try and land a job in Norway/Sweden with a working holiday visa for a year or so. What are the chances of getting a job there for someone who can't speak the language (I want to go there to learn it).. is there anyone here that did it? I know there are some Norwegians/Swedes here, can anyone give me some tips? Languages I can speak are English and German...if this helps?

I'll work as anything. Though I don't have really any work experience, I'm just 19!

Any tips?

Well I got lucky in Germany, I went there and found an au pair job, which was lucky. So I didn't need to find accommodation either. I don't wanna do another au pair, since I know nothing about norwegian language I can't anyway.

in Norway there are abudance of jobs, but you must speak norwegian atleast 85% as they never want to hire someone who speaks english, just 6 months ago there 25 thousand poles working in every proffesion but all disappeared due to culture and a foreigners are easy to boot them up any day no matter where they from.

It seems Norway is most safe country now. And its government is stable. The people are also prudent and yet frank. Its economy is also stable. Plus it is not so crowded. So it is the best place to be.
