Of course. Obama comes across as weak and ineffective. North Korea is testing him. If he folds and agrees to talks it will display an appeasement attitude and third world tyrannical regimes will bleed him for every penny by making threats and getting payoffs.

North Koreans are thinking;'yes we can' demand direct talks with US,they saw what kind of wuss and liar Obama is!
|

Answer the demands, this way the United States can get the bodies back of tens-of-thousands of dead that are now in hundreds of mass graves in the DPRK when the North Koreans and their Allies destroyed two United States army groups in 1950 and 1951. |
||||
??? The US counterattack pushed the NK up to the Chinese border practically. The Chinese counterattack was halted at the pre-war boundary with the PRC taking 400,000+ dead, 486,000 wounded. There were no army groups wiped out that I'm aware of, quite the contrary if you know how the 5th Marines performed there. |

This according to the Fake history in the United States. |
||||
LOL It's been estimated by DPRK that at least 50,000 communist died although some estimates are as high as 2 million. Their sources verify it, silly. The NK and Chinese volunteers couldnt breech the 38th parallel. The communist objective to topple South Korea failed. Get over it. |

Was it not Carter who struck a deal with Kim that he would close down his reactor and, in exchange, the US would supply diesel fuel? Is it not true that Bush abrogated that treaty shortly after his "axis of evil" speech? Is it not the case that the Koreans then promptly restarted their reactor in the face of the American breaking of the previous agreement? On the whole, it appears that the Democrats were much more successful in dealing with Kim. |

1 In June '08 they destroyed a water cooling tower at a plant where they extracted plutonium as US officials looked on. That was during the Bush administration. They seem to be taking a different course. N Korea "demanding" direct talks with the US is nothing more than a test of the new guy(like Biden predicted). They want to see if veiled threats work. |
||||
Actually it was about 4 to 5 million people, mostly civilians, one-third of the population, as usual, that were murdered by the United States attack on The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sometimes known as North Korea. The United States has a Sorry Human Rights Record in its whole existence. That's why History is not taught in its schools there. |

sorry it was bubba that gave 578 million worth of heating oil per year, assistance in building a light water reactor, and no inspections for 5 years. |

Yes, but that was another chapter in the series of events in which Carter made a deal by which oil was supplied for the closing of the plant, Bush abrogated the agreement and the Koreans restarted their program with apparent success. The destruction of the tower and all is part of a later series of events. My point was that their actions in restarting their nuclear program are fairly logical under the circumstances of the time. Carter was able to strike a deal because he gave them some recognition. Bush was not able to do so because he systematically refused to recognize them. If Obama gives the some recognition he will be able to deal with them, losing nothing in the process. |

Who is bubba? What year are you referring to? The deal, as I recall it, was directly related to the weapons program suspension. At any rate you will recall all the consternation about "restarting" that followed Bush's unilateral refusal to deliver the oil. |
