This makes me wanna cry. I saw several veterans outside the funeral home with their flags for hours. I mean, it's inspirational how dedicated these men are to their brothers/sisters. I'd never seen that before so thought something must be up, just wish I'd have at least saluted them. God Bless.

The anguish this family has felt over the years is incomprehensible. I'm so glad they were finally able to bring him home!

God bless you Sgt!

What a wonderful story. When my brother spent two tours in Iraq, I often contemplated the sadness I would feel if he were killed. I can not even imagine what I would feel if I had no true knowledge, if he had simply vanished over there. It is unimaginable. I am sad that his parents never got this peace of knowing the truth before they died.

Welcome home Sgt. O'Brien. You've been gone long enough!

I was on the rifle team for SGT O'Brien's funeral honors. I can't begin to explain the overwhelming sense of honor I felt in being a part of this. Thank you to SGT O'Brien's family for allowing all of us to be a part of this. Many blessings to the O'Briens.

I hope Wally is extremely proud that his children encouraged him and he agreed to the DNA test. The research the extended family did was outstanding. You brought Sgt. Edward O'Brien home to rest. May Wally receive comfort from the knowledge that his brother was and is not forgotten.

What a great detail. Thanks for helping Sgt. O'Brien receive a dignified burial after so many years. This must be an especially poignant 4th of July for you, and thank you for your service.

I just found this article a few minutes ago. I was the Mission Commander who led the team which recovered SGT O'Briens remains.

I remember the site and events well. Finding the remains, ID Tags and especially the laminated discharde certificate brought the recovery team great joy. Another Brother in Arms was going home.

While it takes time we knew all of this and DNA would be the keys to a positive identification and return to his family.

SGT O'Brien. The journey is complete. Welcome HOME.

Wally is my grandpa and the family was so happy when Jim was identified and we recieved word he would be finally coming home.
Thank you to the Patriot Guard for their awesome display outside the funeral home and in front of my grandparents house.
To Mission Commander, thank you for finding him so he could be brought home.
