You must be one of the chief idiots a.k.a. administrators ruling NMSU.

How do you propose this phony letter was written, signed, sealed, and delivered stating that they completed all their academic responsibilities, coursework, and their MD degrees were awarded since 2002, if transcripts did not exist?

Additionally, it states that the Mexican University prepared and submitted to the Graduate School at NMSU not only the original official Spanish transcripts but an additional English translation since June 2002!

For anyone with half a brain the questions now become the following?

1) What happened to those transcripts?

2) Why are they now missing, six years later from the wrongfully dismissed professors, graduate student files at NMSU and only after they complained of discrimination, harassment and intimidation?

3) If they were never received by NMSU, how were they admitted into the graduate school at NMSU in the first place and why were they permitted to complete not one but two graduate degrees (MPH & PhD) at NMSU?

4) Since when an "incomplete" student file supposedly from studies completed at another University can lead to the revocation of your graduate degrees from NMSU?

5) Wasn't Chief Regent Gallagher the main protagonist in claiming all kind of crap about these two good people in the press only to be exposed for the liar, charlatan, and phony he really is when upon review, all of his allegations were unsubstantiated by Ms. Ashley Meeks in the Las Cruces Sun News?

6) Didn't President Martin's unsuccessful attempt to blackmail Dr. Buckingham to support his malicious but stupid charges of "plagiarism" against these two professors, and subsequent feeble attempt to revoke their degrees, backfired big time on his ass?

7) Now they have incredibly resorted to an innate and cockamamie attempt to try and prove that these people are not MD's?

8) Why can't NMSU admit they f*@#ed up big time with these two people, and simply offer to either reinstate them immediate and publicaly apologize or be prepared to pay out a huge settlement in federal court?

Trust me, if NMSU's inept, stupid and arrogant mishandling of this case is any indication, the biggest news are yet to come and this story is far from over and not going to go away for a very long, long time!

No wonder President Martin skipped town quickly and left the naive Cruzado holding the bag of HOLY CRAP!

Now I see the real picture, where are the official transcripts. I don't want to see a phony letter from Mexico, I want to see the transcripts supporting this letter. I now understand why NMSU has taken it's stance.

The situation at NMSU has reached a point were it it is important for madam Waded Cruzado-Salas to put things into perspective before the beginning of the semester. It will be wise to correct the many problems now, otherwise, I see this case hitting the media for a long long time at which point the case will cost Risk Management millions of dollars!

Are these people insane? I mean NMSU administration. What the hell do they think they are doing? President Martin felt the fire and left, now Bob Gallagher is using Cruzado, I predict that she will be going away too because of her incompetence.
I graduate tomorrow and this situation has reached levels that are so embarassing for some of us joing the workforce. I am proud to have finished my degree, but am terrified of the possibility that NMSU might revoke it if I disagree with them. In fact, there is a lot of corruption in CHSS and it is prevalent in nursing!
Shame on you Waded Cruzado-Salas for being involved in this scandal. There are worse days ahead of this great institution.
Unbelievable

As someone who completed my medical school studies in UACJ, Mexico, I am very proud of both my education and training. It took me six long and hard years to receive my degree so I know what these folks went through.

When I came to the U.S and completed by medical residency in family practice, I found myself far more advanced than may of my American counterparts.

UACJ is not a-for-profit, private University moron! The name Autonoma indicates that it is a state and federal Institution of Higher Learning with very high standards!

By all accounts and in reading the two letters I bet you the majority of people would be hard pressed to tell which letter was written by a University (UACJ) in a supposed third world country (Mexico) but composed with respect, class, professionalism, and dignity toward its students and which one was written by a University (NMSU) in a developed country (USA)which was more in line with a threatening, intimidating and menacing letter one should expect was composed by a dictatorial regime gone insane?!

Then again a dictatorial regime gone insane is exactly what PSU has become! and I thought we had problems in Mexico.

Believe me, a degree from a mexican medical school is not worth the paper its printed on! These are for-profit institutions. The graduates hang out a shingle and call themselves whatever they want, usually in the united states, without any of the actual training that a US medical student and resident go through to be allowed to be physicians. Obtaining a transcript from the school should be easy...as long as the international language is spoken...ca$h!

Pen Pal quotes "NMSU has many non-white teachers and employees; it need not make AA hires to comply with any such program. Nothing in the record suggests that these professors were AA hires."

1. Why do you think NMSU has many non-white teachers and employers? That's right Affirmative Action aka institutional racism. Have you ever read a want-add out from NMSU? It specifically states non-white males get preference, or to put it another way. White males will not be given a fair shake.

2. "Nothing in the record suggests that these professors where AA hires". Then let's find out if they were.

3. Waded Cruzados? You can't tell me that wasn't an AA hire.

4. To end, If you support Affirmative Action in any manifestation, you support racism and racial discrimination. It's as simple as that.

5. It is way past time for NMSU and ALL government institutions to stop this racial discrimination.

You mean to tell me that Bird and Moraros are MDs?
This is so NOT surprising to everyone but the NMSU administration.
NMSU has been blinded by their incensed desire to destroy these two to the point that they are actually destroying themselves.
What a sad state of affairs...other than that, I agree with our former governor and Dean of the Business College Dr. Carruthers, Waded Cruzado-Salas is doing such a great job as Interim President she should keep the job permanently, especially since anyone white and with brains (i.e. Martin, McDonough, Carruthers) does not really want it! and with good reason!

This is all getting OLD! I don't know why both instructors keep dragging things out...I mean why did they even apply for a Graduate Program at a school that has discriminated against them? Why not get legal representation and go somewhere where they don't feel discriminated against? They have NMSU by the balls, and no matter what NMSU does, SOMEONE is screaming RACISM!
Don't get me wrong NMSU Administration has not handled this the right way either...all parties are at fault. And it just keeps dragging and dragging and dragging...
Drop it already...I am sure a lot of us are just tired of all this.

If you are so tired, why don't YOU just drop it, and STOP reading and blogging on these stories.

Next time you are discriminated, harassed, intimidated, and retaliated against just have the perp instruct you to just drop your complaining, shut up, and just go away.

I think that would most certainly solve the problem.

Just an observation.

"...both instructors keep dragging things out..."
Yes, that would seem to be an intelligent course of action, especially the part about going elsewhere. I was once an applicant to EPCC and know for a fact that the search committee interviewed only candidates with Hispanic surnames. The insider friend who told me this suggested I sue...but I didn't want to work at an institution where ethnicity was the deciding factor for hiring decisions, so I blew it off and went to work elsewhere.
"...NMSU...has not handled this the right way..."
They never do. It's part of a management culture that runs throughout the entire institution, which for some reason the regents believe in and reward.

No thanks, I will continue to blog and write, and read. Everyday people are discriminated, harassed, intimidated, and retaliated against. It seems as if you have been too. And I am sure that you have stood up for yourself in every situation and continued to stay in a place where you choose to be a victim. Or are you just the by stander who watches it all go on and only comes on here to tell others to SHUT UP. I mean observers only observe...they don't get involved correct?

All of the people involved in this should settle it like Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton did a long time ago. A tournament could be set up like the NCAA March Madness until we're down to the Final Four and then the Final Two. ESPN could cover it, tickets could be sold to wipe away the Athletic Department's monstrous red sea and all of our problems would be solved. The sole survivor would be crowned Grand Champion Scandal Survivor and he or she could ride off on a white horse into the sunset.
Oh, wait a minute. I said white horse. Is that racist?

This is so out of hand and so corrupt that immediate intervention from some powerful federal agency and/or organization outside the sphere of influence and control of NMSU needs to get immediately involved and rescue us all from our administration and further embarrassment and humiliation.

I mean, once again the NMSU administration has managed the unthinkable; to make our University national, front-line,ignominious news in the Chronicle of Higher Education http://chronicle.com/news/article/4958/new-me... .

Such sad developments have become customary and expected over the last 7 long months and many of us hoped with President Martin's departure, better days lay ahead but the administration under the leadership of Provost Cruzado needs to realize they are at major fault here and not compound the problem by continuing their persecution and witch hunt on these two individuals.

President Cruzado is trying to deal with the mess left her. She has rightly taken herself out of the picture because this should be (and should have been) handled at the level of the provost, not by the president or the regents. I expect Bob Moulton, who is a morally upright person committed to following procedures, will start being blasted by people any day now.

Those who think that Moraros and Bird are totally innocent need to ask why they have feel it necessary to hand over documents in the presence of a reporter, now and earlier. They could ask for a written receipt of the letters; the reporter's presence here compromises her impartiality. If the letters were sealed, did the NMSU office make the letters available to the Sun-News for scanning? And why were the letters sent to Drs. Bird and Moraros when they were addressed to the Graduate School? The UACJ should have sent any letters to NMSU and should have been asked to send the letters to NMSU. If I were to ask the places where I did my undergraduate and graduate work to send me copies of my transcripts, they would come marked "unofficial." Official copies would go directly to the University. While this is a foreign university, UACJ has undoubtedly dealt with enough U.S. universities to know the procedures.

If you look at the names on the "letters" from Juarez, and Google them with Moraros and Bird, you find interesting information.(See http://www.csuchico.edu/cjhp/4/3/103-115-bird... ) The letter sender is a co-author of journal articles with Moraros and Bird, where Moraros and Bird use "MD" after their names. Nowhere does it indicate he is actually an official with the Registrar's Office (or equivalent) at the University in Juarez who would actually be appropriate to sign such a letter. Seems like the co-author might be worried that the research is going to be discredited and is trying to help cover it up. Why didn't the Sun News reporter do a simple Google to find this type of connection?
