8.8- much larger than the one which hit Haiti. I'm thinking there'll be a lot of damage in Chile.
a huge quake which hit chile in the 60s sent a deadly tsunami towards Japan. |

Apparently the wave was 1.69 meters above sea level at Valparaiso, they don't estimate anything for here that I can find. I've got a cousin in Brisbane but she's way inland. It's not supposed to affect North Queensland and boy am I glad about that as we've had nothing but rain for weeks with local minor flooding and any rise up here would be a problem. King tides come up into our drains! UPDATE for NSW: SUMMARY: Tsunami warning for the marine environment for NEW SOUTH WALES. Threatened areas extend from Broken Bay to Point Danger. Possibility of dangerous waves, strong ocean currents and foreshore flooding for several hours from 08:45 am [EDT] Sunday. Further south from about 8am Sunday for coastal areas from Broken Bay to Gabo Island, there are likely to be unusual currents and tides during Sunday. At this stage, those areas, including the coast and bays around Sydney Harbour, are not considered to be under threat of significant tsunami effects. Sea level observations HAVE confirmed a tsunami has been generated. For further details visit the Bureau web site www.bom.gov.au . Next update due by 12:13 AM EDT on Sunday 28 February 2010 |

Just found this:
"British experts said a tsunami was now radiating from the epicentre towards Hawaii and other settlements on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The extent of the tsunami's ferocity is not yet known, but it has already reached the southern Juan Fernandez Islands, about 400 miles off the coast of Chile, where it was reported to have caused "serious damage". "This morning's magnitude 8.8 earthquake close to the Chilean coast has caused a tsunami that is now radiating away from the epicentre and travelling at several hundred kilometres per hour across the Pacific ocean. "The first waves are expected ot Hawaii at 11:19 Hawaii Standard Time but are also travelling along the South America coast and will reach Colombia and Costa Rica after 1300 GMT." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/sou... |

Wave is coming in at great speed. Pacific islands, NZ and Austrailia on high alert.

Have just moved to higher ground. From experience these things can move up to three Kilometers inland. If you are in a low lieing coastal area get to higher ground.

In 1960 a Mag 9.5 earthquake off Chile spawned a Tsunami that killed many people in Japan and Hawaii. The danger across the Pacific is real. Expect many fatalities from this latest earthquake off Chile. The Chilean President has already reported a Tsunami crossing the coast and inundating one town The Chilean Police have reported a 16 foot tsunami crossing an outlying island. Make no mistake this will be bad.

Australia on tsunami watch?
Yep, 98.000 Indians Migrant have come to live in Australian speacially in Melbourne after the Australian gobernment gave them Permanent Resident Visa to stay in Australia. Those 98.000 Indians are worst than a Tsunami 8.8-magnitude earthquake because they are whilling to pay 4 times the Rent prices to greedy Land Lords who wants to get Rich quick. The Greedy Land Lords are telling the Australians to move out of their houses and Apartments so that Indians can move in. Land Lords screw Australians and Bussiness screw Australia and on top of this the Indians call Australians Racists. In my own opinion the French's Gullotine should be brought to Australia to cut off the head of of the Greedy Land Lords and those Greedy Bussinesses who bring Indians for cheap Labour. Australia is already experiencing a Tsunami of Migrants. Soon there will be Tsumani of angry Australians invading and burning the Houses of Greedy Land Lords and Greedy Bussinesses when they will have enought of been treated like shit. It is not Australia problem if the Indians have 12 kids to feed they should fu*** less. Fu*** with India. |

jassus... New Zealand also issued a tsunami alert, warning of a wall of water up to 10 feet high, with landfall due there at just after 6pm GMT. The New Zealand National Crisis Management Centre warning said the greatest wave heights were expected between six and 12 hours after the initial arrivals. |
If the Tsunami doesn't get these fools, we Indians will kick all their racist arses up to Ayer's Rock!!! |
