Leif and hinamanu et al, you are a bunch of ignorant no it all. Niue is a sovereign state with its own Constitution which was designed by leaders of both Niue and NZ at the time. Obviously Niues leader of that era had the upper hand and now afford the country a better deal. But is it? For any country to try to influence in any way how another democratic sovereign state should run its affairs is liken to Taliban Afghanastan. Is that what NZ is perceived here? Niue is a sovereign state, live with it and if you cant then deal with it whichever way, but accept the fact that Niue is responsible for its own affairs. As for Niueans living outside of Niue contributing to its economy, what a load of bollocks, while remittances contribute substantially to other pacific economies, for Niue it is the other way around. People living in Niue pay remittances to families living in NZ or elsewhere so cut the crap and dont lie....Niue spend more than 8 million dollars a year into the NZ economy so why is NZ complaining? Since it seems most of its aid money goes back into NZ economy. Just stop bagging Niue and find something else to complain about, or better still why dont you brainless morons research some positive things about Niue and talk about because at least that would make life worth living for you at least. You see, for me, I love this place I call home, at least I know my sister can go out clubbing and get home in one piece, I can leave my car keys in the ignition and no-one will nick my wheels, or that my grandparents feel safe in this place, ask your family these same questions....man Niue is the home I have always dreamed about...I dont give a hoot about its politics, because I am not hungry, I have a roof over my head and my son can be educated and have free health care...you ask me where I want to be in this world right now, it would be, without a doubt a little place in the south west pacific called Niue! So any doubting Thomases out there, get stuffed!

My original topic was passports. Niue and Raro both use NZ curreny and I believe Kiwi's shouldn't have to use pp's to go there.

American's don't to go to Hawaii.

If I won a huge Lotto I would settle in Niue to bring up children and help its economy.

Not drastically anad be critised as an outsider destabilising lives, but enough to help.

So what you're saying is that you are not happy with the leadership that this country is providing for you. What make's you think Niuean people living in New Zealand will benefit from having a "Niuean" MP.

One thing's for sure, you can count your blessings for having been taught by the best Island Leaders that have gone before this slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwleeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeee developing country. I don't care what people say about Taito Phillip Field, he is and always will be the Greatest Island Leader this pitiful country has ever seen.

Hey look Niue can have as many MPs as they want, in Niue.

So if I’m reading you correctly, you are saying that Niue is better off without NZ financial aid and that NZ is lucky to have your 8 million $ spent in NZ economy?

So what would happen if NZ was to cut all financial aid?

Niue spends their 8 or so million somewhere else.

Niue people living in NZ all sent back.

Who would be more damaged by this NZ or Niue?

Hey I’m Maori and proud of it, remember we are the Tangata Whenua of these Islands and I would never dream or expect to have power or any form of governance in any other Island Country.

With all the respect to Niue or any Island Nation, worry about maintaining and improving the leadership you at home, before worrying about having some leadership in another country.

Do let your countries be totally over run by outsiders, I have regrets to what has happen here in Aotearoa, being dominate by the European, but we will survive hahahahahaha.

We only have to look at Fiji, with the unrest that is going on with the Fijians and the Indians, Tahiti and the French.

All those outsider should had just stayed home and minded their own business.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
