South America, Africa Pledge To Promote South-South Co-op

Full story: news.xinhuanet.com

The second Africa-South America Summit has ended here with the adoption of the Declaration of Nueva Esparta as leaders vowed to promote South-South cooperation. According to the 30-page document, South American and African countries reaffirmed their "commitment to promote South-South cooperation as the main objective of the two regions, so as to complement the traditional North-South cooperation" and "promote sustained economic growth ... in the two regions." The countries have also promised to "exchange their experiences and encourage a close and effective cooperation between the two regions, with the strong support of the African Union (AU) and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), as main pillars of cooperation between our peoples."

One world ism is taking off. Pretty soon there will be no more traditional nations. Everyone is forming trading blocs. I guess we are getting ready for the new world order.

I'm glad to see South American and South Africa doing something together. It's good for Africa.

True..., and its a case the previous SA Ambassador in Brazil brought to the attention of the Brazilian government officials (she encountered). She said it may have been beyond her duties as a diplomat but an issue she just could not turn a blind eye on. I want to believe it won't end there and hope the AU will table it in their discussions.

Afro Latinos must rise and use the co-operation to their advantage. South America is doing business with Africa, this is a good opportunity for them too. Brazil is already in Mozambique and Angola and will be expanding to Zambia, Afro-Brazilians must come to the party. When Venezuela starts investing in SA, we want to see Afro Venezuelans in the mix.

There is an awakening taking place amongst the S. American blacks in Brazil. Many were inspired by the election of Brack Obama as POTUS. A black pride movement is taking shape in Brazil using their cousins in the U.S. and S. Africa as a role model.
