So the police and army are TOTALLY responsible for this?
Ousted President Manuel Zelaya threatened the interim government of Honduras with "generalized violence" if he is not restored to power. Someone better talk with Mel before they write articles. |

Of course not. I have to wonder T Bone if he isn´t violating international law by doing this.

At the very least, he must be violating the laws of Nicaragua but, their president doesn't seem to care about this. |

John but their congress is being very vocal about his not caring about it...so we shall see what happens next...now I am playing ennie, minnie, minie, moe, on which will be next to show up in Costa Rica in his pjs...Ortega, Chavez, or Correa...got any bets on who is next?

But in any ALBA "democracy" the only voice that carries any weight is the head honcho. And for this reason Mr. President Obama is exactly why Honduras has rejected ALBA to be installed in their free govt. Yes Honduras has rejected this...from the Govt leaders,the vast majority of the population, the Catholics ,Evangelicals ,and more. Why can't the rest of the world accept the rule of Law that Honduras has in place? Is it really that hard to understand? |
||||
Ahh now I got what you were saying. If enough people get mad like those being deprived of their free press and media or the opposition maybe something can happen but it worked in Honduras because the Military was loyal the Govt, the constitution, and the people in spite of what these clueless blind leaders think who don't even know where Tegucigalpa is. |

I don't have a preference for the order of things, just so that all three of them wind up in Costa Rica in their pajamas would satisfy me, and the sooner, the better! |

Roberto do not underestimate the will of the Latin American people...right now Venezuelans have taken to the streets even though Chavez has threatened them with jail...Hondurans told him to watch out for sharpshooters (no kidding they really did) if he showed back up in Honduras...and believe me he has not graced our shores since.

It makes you wonder for that matter if Zelaya would really want to come back to Honduras with all the animosity from most Hondurans after all his done for this Country since being sent to CR in his PJ's. I bet the Saddam look alike in a cowboy hat is not as tough as he wants everyone to think. He has robbed this country blind.Back in history a mad Dictator who to tried to take over Honduras that comes to my mind is William Walker.(I have seen his statue in Trujillo) This is where the term for Catrachos comes from. Mel better chill because after so much the catrachos might not be so nice to him. |

el pueblo catracho....yep..
There is much animosity against him. He is a Saddam look alike..I am glad you noticed that too...gives me even more chills everytime I see his picture. William Walker was from the US and in 1860, September 12 I believe. The Honduran government put him to death by firing squad.... He was influenced by the Monroe Doctrine. Attacking Trujillo was his end...he had created a coup in Mexico that lasted four months and created a coup in Nicaragua and became president and he tried to take control of Honduras and Honduras didn´t stand for it. |

Thanks for the history lesson; as an honorary Honduran, I think that I better hit the books before I move there in a few years! |

No william walker was beheaded by King Limpira,was defeated in Costa Rica and fled to Honduras,tried to make a deal and was beheaded by order of the King.Summer needs to go back to school.Thus the Limpira and why.
|
||||
I knew that the lempira got its beginning with the native, Honduran king but, both versions of the story sound like the Honduran people have a history of kicking the bad guy's butt! |
||||
Nope... go to Trujillo....his monument concurs a death by the firing squad of Honduras. Hhhmm even he was in from Nicaragua like Zelaya for a short time. Read about Catrachos in Wikipedia . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walker_%... Rather than return him to the U.S., Capt. Salmon delivered Walker to the Honduran authorities, who executed him near the site of the present-day hospital by firing squad on September 12, 1860. Walker was 36 years old. He is buried in the Cementerio Viejo in the coastal town of Trujillo, Colón. |

Hondurans(catrachos) have a 149 year history of resisting an evil dictator(William Walker) who come from the Nicaraguan territory. Zelaya better watch out..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hondurans Catracho Central Americans refer to a person from Honduras as a Catracho. The term was coined by Nicaraguans in the mid 1800s when Honduran General Florencio Xatruch returned from battle with his soldiers after defeating American freebooters commanded by William Walker, whose purpose was to re-establish slavery and take over all of Central America. As the general and his soldiers returned, some Nicaraguans yelled out ˇVienen los xatruches!, meaning "Here come Xatruch's boys!" However, Nicaraguans had so much trouble pronouncing the general's last name that they altered the phrase to los catruches and ultimately settled on los catrachos.[2] |

Exactly...glad you were interested ...most people in the US do not even know who William Walker was or why Latin American countries prefer the US to mind their own business...they have a habit of getting it wrong.
|
|||
Even though William Walker had conquered Nicaragua for a very short time the US President back then recognized William Walker as the legitimate President of Nicaragua whose fate was soon to come by the Brave Catrachos. Hhhmm I see some similarities 149 years later.Just because a US President(hello Barack) declares something legitimate doesn't mean it carries any weight in Central America. |

Zelaya may face the same fait,go to the national library in San Pedro,you will find out how and why william died.Just as stupid as Zelaya.Take his ranch make it a park.If he has the balls to come back you would not need to kill him ,prison will.I love my country,she stood up more than one time and will do it again.And I will stand with her,Im done with this B.S. my family is scared and my children are understanding what is going on ,these are small kids,in a big world,they don't need this
