I did what you said to do and I googled intelligent.

Intelligent is an English word. The majority of people who use English as an every day language are still White Europeans. For this reason we would EXPECT there to be more images of intelligent Europeans represented than other people.

What would happen if we were to type in the Japanese word for intelligent. Would we not then find the majority of faces which come up are Asian? I bet we would.

But whats more MG, is that intelligent is not only used in English but it is used in a lot of other European languages. Swedish for example, the most commonly used word for intelligent is also intelligent. So what is to say that those White faces don't also belong to other Europeans who use the word intelligent in their language?

Now I noticed you did not tell me to google dumb or stupid, two words which are the opposite of intelligent. If intelligence is associated with Whiteness, then surely the opposite would be associated with "brownness"?

But google dumb or stupid and we don't see a disproportionately higher numbers of brown faces, instead we see what really IS a disproportionately higher number of White faces compared to non-White faces!

If I google intelligent and it comes up with a disproportionately higher number of White faces (which it didn't btw) and then I google dumb or stupid and it still comes up with a disproportionately higher number of White people compared to the rest of the English speaking world, what then is your point?

And by the way MG. When I googled dumb I found numerous references to so called "dumb blondes". How hypocritical MG, that in an era that almost ANYTHING can be deemed racially offensive that blonde jokes and stereotypes, WHICH CLEARLY TARGET WHITE EUROPEAN WOMEN are still socially acceptable. No, the exercise was simply in an effort to see the pervasiveness of white imagery. I’m not saying that it necessarily ‘proves’ anything, or as you seem to have misconstrued, that whiteness does or should equal intelligence or vice versa.

The point is simply to see the frequency of whiteness in imagery.

You suggested that Jewish ‘control’ of the media gave them an unfair ability to influence news and to further some unspecified Jewish agenda.

What my exercise was simply trying to point out is the overrepresentation of whiteness using themes based on key words.

I’m not saying this is in any way ‘scientific’ or proof of anything, but at the very least, and contrary to the theme of Jewish media control that you espouse, what we see across the spectrum isn't an abundance of Jewish immagery, but an overrepresentation of whiteness.

You know full well I have not misconstrued anything Maori Guy. You told me to look up intelligent, success and beauty not only because they are key words, but because these are positive attributes to which you are always trying to link your imaginary White privilege to. You know it and I know it.

But as I mentioned your exercise doesn't actually prove what you claim it does at all.

I typed in "intelligent". The first several hundred images I got back OVERWHELMINGLY consisted of animals, cartoons and machines. There is no over-representation of White people disproportionate to the rest of the English speaking world there.

And then I typed in "success". Again there is no over-representation there which is disproportionate to the English speaking world. For success I mostly got back images of quotes and charts with arrows on them.

It may be Maori Guy that when I type in those words in Europe that I am getting a different set of results back than you are in the USA!

Perhaps we could ask somebody in New Zealand if they get an over-representation of White faces compared to the rest of the English speaking world, or do they get instead images of mostly machinery, cartoons and animals?

All you have done with this exercise is highlight how much you are seeing images of perceived White privilege when there really is NO images of White privilege to be found!

BTW Maori Guy I decided to look up the Japanese word for intelligent. Their word is eigo. And surprise surprise what discovered is that when you change the language from a European one to a non-European language, the so called over-representation of ethnicity changes with it!

Search for 'success' brought up a whole raft of graphs, charts, creative design elements. And to be fair, most (although not all) of the people images were white. But to be even fairer again, with the relatively low achievement rates of the darker skinned people of this world, what would one expect?

Kind of reminds me of something I heard recently...teachers in the UK are now under the instruction to mark no more than three mistakes per page on a student's work. It's not good for their self esteem to be faced with a sea of red marks on their papers.

Drawing a parallel with this, Maori Guy would rather there was only brown faces when one does these searches. It can't be good for darker skinned people to not see all brown faces when searching these words. Rather than 'tell it like it is' he'd rather we be politically correct and distort facts to appease those who find 'whiteness' offensive. That way the ethnic minorities can continue with their low performing ways, with nothing showing in the media which reflects the true state of affairs.

There you go Maori Guy the results for key words like success and intelligent appear to be the same in New Zealand as they are in Europe.

So I guess Maori Guy this is the part where you can either continue to embarrass yourself further by making excuses as to why what we seen on our screens is not that same as what you see on yours: or you can at least come clean to yourself and admit this obsession you have for thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence if you are White, is largely based more on your own racism than it is on reality.

No, 43PT. I say again, the point was simply to illustrate the over representation of whiteness.

If I wanted to show some kind of association with positive descriptors and whiteness on the one hand, and negative descriptors and non-white on the other, then that’s what I would have said to go looking for. The fact that you picked up on this should indicate that this wasn’t my intention.

I actually went looking for those images expecting to find that the positive descriptors would turn up more white faces and negative descriptors more non-white faces.

Before you get too self congratulatory, you will note that Guts found that most imagery for the keyword ‘success’ returned mostly white faces.

As you pointed out, you can search for dumb and also see mostly white faces. It surprised me too. But this reinforces the point I was trying to make, because it highlights the omnipresence of whiteness and of the power of being seen as normal.

Being white is the yardstick by which all other people seem to be measured.

I used Google images and Yahoo images. I don’t know if it makes a difference that I’m in the US. Perhaps it does. I’m not entirely sure.

Maybe the question you should ask yourself is, why don’t we see an over representation of Jewish imagery?
