What anyone needs a pitbull terrier for is beyond me. all they're good for is fighting.

But it's only an apprentice hairdresser!

I've always founds cock fights more entertaining than dog fights.... Although you have to feel a little uncomfortable watching another mans penis no matter how secure you are in your own sexuality.

Rodney: Pit Bull is not a difficult word to spell. Spelling it Pit "Ball" no doubt it does reflect your knowledge on the subject.

Truekiwijoker: You may as well say Golden Retrievers are only good for retrieving birds. Or Fox Terriers are only good for fighting badgers and foxes. Makes as much sense.

You seem to be quite defensive on the the dog topic. But I'm sorry, one look at the the nature of themajority of people that have Pit Bulls and you'll get a clear idea of the nature of the dog, and the reason public opinion goes against having these dogs amongst us (or their owners, for that matter).

Well to get a clear idea of the real nature of the dog one should look first at the dog and not the owner. Shouldn't be forgotten that prior to the late 1980s most people had never heard of the Pit Bulls and hence there was no problem. Most people that keep Pit Bulls now probably shouldn't, but they're a fashion item and when something is is fashion everybody wants one. Make a dog look bad ass in the eyes of the public and of course you're going to attract the wrong types to the breed and the whole time making them less desirable for the right types to own. Not wanting to go on here, but where I live the media haven't demonized the breed as they have in NZ and as a result there isn't the same Pit Bull "problem" here, and there are no laws banning them. And yeah I am a little defensive, but I feel I have the right to be.

I have a 2yr old female rottweiler, but I'm still a little unsure about this breed.

Again people, really? I find that people pose a bigger threat to other people than pit bulls ever will, watch the news!!!! Should we ban morons? If so I bet alot of bit bull haters and their loved ones would be on the run too. Its not the dog that is the problem, its the stupid people who take an Animal and expect it to teach its self and take care of its self. Alot of times these aggressive animals are left outside with little to no social interactions from anyone, and if they get attention at all its negative attention in the form of abuse and neglect. You ever see a dog dream? or look at you and seem to know how your feeling, They are living feeling creatures. wouldnt you go insane living in the conditions that alot of these animals are raised in? I dont condone biting, but you need to put the blame where it goes, STUPID people, with no respect for the very thing they took on as a responsibilty.

Of course we can't ban morons...but I was kind of hoping natural selection might see us rid of them one day in the not too distant future. We live in hope, eh?
