Wesley College hostel slammed by report

bro i thought wesley was a pretty up there school.

The dorms were pretty awesome when I was there 10 years ago, whats going on?

Wesley is losing it's mana and respect. These two attributes as well as discipline are what I learned as a boarder at Wesley back in the 80's.
The kidfs there today have no respect for the staff, each other and the school itself!!
The current principal doesn't seem to be adressing the problems which have brought our fine school into disrepute!! Shame on him!!

Te Kareti Weteriana. Yo to all the old School Boys that had WTC locked down the time when MacDougal, Grinter, Watson and all those great Teachers and Leaders kept it real. Sure there was things that went on but it was dealt with and any smart lil posers would soon grow up fast and be disciplined. These days no parades just bull. No real leadership. Students now dont know the mana or the history of all of our old boys.The board and the hostel dont see eye to eye and havent for a long time. An absolute disgrace that because of some people pride they cannot sort out their own bull. The oldest school and once a very proud school. Go up there now its like a ghetto, Students have no respect the leaders of the school? where are they? Even some ex Students from the 80s and former have had their own kids go there and it was a mess. Sort it out before it ends up like Tipene and I tell you to this day those boys are still hurtin over the closure!!!! Lets not end up like Tip for god sake......

hmm i go there now, and i admit it! Wesley has gone down! when i started, the school was already going down, and its a shame really!
Over the few years i've been there i saw the changes that started to happen from when i was form one till now! the tagging, the disrespect, the sciving(wagging), inproper uniform, even from the siniors!, and now as i look unto the siniors i see them as a joke to wesley college! i remeber when i was form one we got told to tuck in our shirts, straighten up our ties, and wear the uni form with pride, and we did'nt have to be told twice, because we'd listen!, but now it just does'nt happen eny more!
I hope, as i finish my school years here, that i can make a change and hopefully give Wesley college it's pride once more.

Thanks for your posting bruvva.It is a hell of a shame as I make no mistake in how annoyed it is spending from form 1 till form 7 at WTC. We used to roll into Puke or anywhere and no matter of the jealousy that has always been there about Wesley everyone used to comment on the way the boys and girls dressed. With pride. You can read into this alot it speaks alot about a person and a place. I hope and I pray the pride and mana is installed in the School as it is the oldest School in New Zealand soooo much pride so much character.,...If I had a choice I would go back there and sort it all out. Sad to say but it does start at the top.If you have someone that leads and doesnt take shit it feeds down to the rest of the School. There is nothing that makes Old boys prouder than a strong WTC not just in sport but in attitude. We can build it up again.... Make everyone proud. Wesley is a place where everyone should be like a big family inspiring for one goal...to succeed. Of course there are some issues that arise but it comes from having strong leaders and strong mana.Keep the faith and play your role. Kia Kaha boy......

Well, I nearly fell over to actually see other schools in the lime light.All us ex Wesley folk know that our beloved school has in the past spent its time in the lime light as obviously many jounalists had no better stories to cover... Although I am not happy with some aspects that have taken place I have equally been annoyed at WTC being the target when we all know that these bigger more "affluent" schools had far worse issues such as bullying, high class drug issues and many many more. But of course it is so easy to pick on a low decile sth akld school.

Wesely carries its pride in the heart and I know being a small school punches way above its weight and that why WTC is dear to many we just wanna see any issues sorted out before i becomes another school run by the govt in an interim measure. Lets put our heads together and sort anything out that needs sorting....Communication is the key....

Anyway all take care....and media there is plenty more school out there with ten times the issue compared with WTC......okay!!!!!

Hi every1 my son is a current student at Wesley & we wanted to send our son too Wesley because we felt they had a lot to offer e.g. Rugby, Education,Discipline and so forth...however 1 year has gone by & i have notice that some staff members at the school has problems with there communication skills. As a parent my son's best interest is at heart, & when i want to find out anything i just get an abrupt answer or just ignored. We get 1 notice per term if there are changes we don't find out until then & what iv just experienced lately is? we have made changes to the rules or clothing or shop accounts etc. & the kids know BUT the parents haven't been advised of these changes we get second hand info. I'm appalled by this type of behaviour communication is a must with the parents....iv complained & still haven't heard anything, And i agree with some of the other replies, the school is in need of a good coat of paint & some of there buildings are in appalling state. I know it's an old school but still it needs to be maintained...Plus the food hygiene the cooks don't even wear gloves & there's No proper drinking facilities & my boy is still hungry?...Man are we still living in the twilight zone.

I would agree with your comments up until this year as my son is a boarder at Paheke. There has been huge change at the school this year I hope it continues.You are right about the hurt as I meet up with some old boys recently and it was evident that they were still hurting.

Just read the St Stephens School report on the Queen Vic site. I hope its not a coincidence but there are a lot of similarities. The difference is that the Principal and his team can make change and maintain it now.I hope what I have been seeing this year is the start. I agree with the food thing...man some of those boys must be hanging out for a feed. Sorry it was Pakeke not Paheke

All changed when they introduced girls I'm afraid. Hato Petera is going through the same thing. Should of kept it single sexd. Now what you have got is a whole heaps of horny teens! Sorry thats just how it is.

i remember the days when everyone use to say that
wesley is a part of you for ever,crap, its only a
school of education,i dont want to go back to that school because i was always got bullied by all of the prefects and even the teachers.
I still have memories and nitemares.
Some of my mates got beaten up whille still sleeping.
Some guys ran away because they were getting abused all of the time.
Wesley is not the school everyone thinks it is.

all you guys putting down wesley are just a bunch of fags. that school hardened me to be be the man i am today.it taught me to be respectful of others, and the prefects they the bomb yeah they gave us all a hard time but we got our chance to be in there shoes, and the ones we hardened got a chance to be in our shoes. so it was a cycle look just harden up puss.cz
