That's a bit harsh. Sure, some of them are slimy individuals, but the Indians that I am regularly in contact with are hardworking, genuinely nice people. One of them in particular is very selfless and would do anything to help me if I asked him. Far more readily than some of my kiwi associates, that's for sure.

You can't be proud if you haven't done anything toward that which you are proud of. You're probably getting "being proud" mixed up with "not ashamed". Which tells me you think being Maori is perhaps something you're embarrassed about.
