Alright! The Humpbacks have recovered, so let's go out there and begin killing them all off again, until they can get relisted as endangered. Save the whales...collect the whole set! Are we proud of ourselves, that we can almost exterminate a whole species, and now, given the chance to do the right thing, we'll no doubt just kill as many of them as possible again? Can't we declare them a desired species, and save them forever for slaughter? Too bad they can't fight back.

Does that mean anything to you? They still can not be hunted even if off OUR list.

Killing them is BANNED by international treaty. Even IF say Japan does a kill a few it will hardly affect the overal numbers. Sorry but you are hugging the wrong tree here.

What nothing better to do in MO, TX, NY, PA, MI? oooooooh Joe! since I live on the mainland, unfortunately, the closest waterway is a river and since whales don't swim by on a regular basis, even during mating season, I guess we mainlanders would like to add our two cents worth, since we are all part of the United States and are concerned about the ocean, the whales the environment etc, etc, although some of us just might be bored. actually, I would think you would be glad to see that we do try to keep up with whats' going on in Hawaii, and that we actually take the time to read the bulletin online. evidently, you are not aware that there are a lot of mainlanders, like me, who truly care about Hawaii, it's people and certainly it's environment. just returned from the most fabulous trip to Kauai and having the opportunity to visit Hawaii is priceless. due to all the problems we all have on the mainland and in Hawaii, it is still the most beautiful place on earth, not just it's natual beauty, but it's people and it's culture. Aloha Joe!

Humpbacks come to our waters to basically hump somemore and give birth to last years humping. This humping has created a population of 12,000 humpbacks. The protection they need is birth control because all that humping is creating to many humpbacks. I'm not getting sarcastic its true. Now they might lift the Humpback from the endangered species list which is what we wanted. It took awhile but we have succeeded. Lifting the ban will allow businesses like the SF to jump one last obstacle. Its too late for them but others might see it as maybe worth a try.
