Marcus Stephen is only a rubber stamp in this government. Marcus is one of the strong supporter of Paul Coffa's proposal to the Nauru Government then to use funds already set aside for rehabilitation of mined out phosphate lands, to fund a World Weightlifting Championships. The proposal promised Nauru of more than 100 million from invisible exports if it is to host the championships. The proposal was not accepted by the Government due to the level of public opposition. In the Sports News Paul Coffa attacked the politicians and the Nauruan people by calling them "jealous" Marcus also supported the establishment of a local Sports TV production using monies from the superannuation fund. A total of 2 million dollars was injected into this fail project at the approval of another of Paul's pet, the then Minister for Finance. When Paul left the island to establish a regional weightlifting gym in Fiji, he took all the TV production equipment promising millions of dollars from their sales to the new establshment. The stakeholders did not receive any dividend till date. All the time Marcus Stephen was like the emperor in the fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes" blinded by promise of Olympic gold. He is unfit to be the President.
