Great that this ruling has finally been made. I have been stressing about it for ages in fear that my Namibian citizenship would be taken away.

I obtained SA citizenship for study purposes. It was easy to obtain as I still had my original SA birth certificate being born pre-independence(new updated Namibian one's being handed out post independence) and was already registered with ID no. and all on the SA system. Just had to apply for ID and passport. Now can go where i please I assume.

If your dad was Namibian, then you do qualify by descent. You would have to have proof of your father's Namibian citizenship and apply for citizenship at the Namibian home affairs or Namibian embassy in your area.

You say:
"Great that this ruling has finally been made."

May I ask which ruling specifically? I'm new to this scene only now looking at what legislation I can towards dual Namibian-South African citizenship.

Thanks.

I am a British citizen (I am South African at present). I did not apply for dual citizenship (didn't know I had to), so I lost my South African citizenship automatically when I became British.
My father is Namibian and I want to apply for Namibian citizenship. Will I have to give up British citizenship?

No. Shouldn't be a problem. I refer you to the website above. You are descended from him and thus fall within the scope of the constitutional clause. Ciao

Cool - thanks for your help. I'm visiting my parents in April, so will look into it properly then! Good news though :)

Hi, I would like to apply for dual-Namibian citizenship.
I was born in Windhoek in 1987 and currently have South African citizenship.
How can I do this?

Hi

My husband and I are work permit holders in Namibia for the past 15 years, both our kids were born in Namibia. They recently received their Namibian birth certificates although they already have South African passports. May they have their Namibian Passports as well or do they have to renound their South African passports first?

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Pisces

This is another good day to be tactful, and if anything you'll be even more successful than you were yesterday. This is not to be sneezed at, so seize the opportunity to talk to people who can sometimes be very touchy or who need to be handled with kid gloves. If you meet someone who's older or more influential than you, you'll be a big hit with them.
