are moroccans racist towards blacks

we, moroccans, are more mediterranean than african, but from within my context, i don't notice any racism. on the opposed foreign Blacks and not the natives who are to blame, because they do not try to conform with the local moral codes and they usually erupt troubles. the issue has nothing to do with skin color, and what might happen to an african could happenn also to a european.

Morocco is an African and mediterranean country. Black people do exist in moroccan society. Although they added important elements to the morocan society(e.g. gnawa music), unfortunately there are still some negative towards them. they are often refferd to as slaves and servants, the Moroccan kind has black servants which shows the sick mentality! the king even exhibits his black servants when he has guests!
One more thing, there is exist racism unless you are blind! Watch tv an tell me how many Black anchors are in TV? None. how many actors or actresses? till now there is only one black comedian. Have ya ever opend a book and found a text or a pic of a black man? No!
Any ads by a black man? no.

Concerning the black imigrants, I think they have the same problems of moroccans and suffer like moroccans and I would not blame neither moroccans nor black imigrants cuz the situation is so hard for all.

What do you mean by black people do not conform the moroccan moral code? morocco is hardly a place known for its moral code.

I would be glad if more people could contribute their view points. I am very interested in the topic. I am Moroccan, black, from the south. I lived almost everywhere in the country. I feel there is a difference between blacks and whites in this country. The guy who spoke about politics and media is right. Moreover there is all this offensive language (words used to refeer to a black person). consider the words: KAHLOUSHI, QELLAWI, DRAWI,?AZZI ...etc. I believe that the first step towards dealing with a problem is first recognizing it; then we should understand its extent before we try to think about solutions. What about the other names used in morocco for white people like aaroubi, shelh… are they all discriminative terms or just part of the tradition that no one cares about in morocco? Isn’t that all Moroccans use them for fun and jokes? I’ll let answer yourself because I’m sure you know the truth and it is exactly opposite to what you are tying to point out.

I would like to see the true answer to this. I am interested because as a U.S. citizen, I've noticed when people from the Middle East, Africa, and India come here, they tend to look down upon the American blacks.

well.as for me moroccan people are not racist to black people because in the islamic religion there shouldnt be discrimination between black or white,arab or non arab,men or women etc...by the way i am moroccan and i believe that it is easier to go to mars or the moon than it is to penetrate one's own being.being black,does this hurt other people?

I was truly curious about this because, here in the U.S., there are cases, mostly Hindu Indians and a few Persians (I know they are different from Arabic peoples- or is it proper to say Middle Eastern?) the families forbid and sometimes kill their daughters for dating black men, or the daughter-in-law for being black. I haven't heard of any one from Morocco, Egypt....doing this.

However, for some reason people have caused black people to have a bad reputation all over the world. True, there are some really bad/violent blacks, but, that's in all racial groups.

Then, there's this stigma on black women, that they are too bossy, aggressive....I guess when women have to take care of the household, defend the family from intruders - what's wrong with that? I guess what I am saying is the women don't want to be a victim easily.

Can you tell me how this is right/wrong based on your culture? Especially if sometimes there are no men around to fulfill this role?

I do know in most Middle Eastern countries, there's always a male figure, whether it be son, uncle, cousin...Here in the U.S. that's not always the case, most black men or even young men are put in jail/prison, or families are separated living in different states.

All they want from you is your money or your American Europe Canada passport. They will lie and cheat you for this things. The issue of race always occurs when there are hard economic conditions.It is always used for political gains.The layman believes in it as it is easy and convenient .Moroccans do not dislike black people as they are themselves highly mixed.But you are most likely to find some uneducated,ignorant moroccans who do.This apply to any society.The better education ,the better race relation.
