Architects Norman Foster and Daniel Libeskind leading race to extend Monaco
The British architect Lord Norman Foster has been placed in joint pole-position to clinch a multi-billion pound project to extend the tiny principality of Monaco the only way possible out to sea.

Since when did Danny Libeskind know or care anything about the environment. Whereas Foster is a true craftsman and technically competent architect, I don't think anybody in Studio Libeskind even understands what the issues are. Come to think of it, Studio Libesking doesn't even know what architecture is. Libeskind's office seems to be full of delusional kids who think that because they create weird shapes on their computers that they are real architects. But don't worry. The coming recession will sort them out!

It must be embarrassing for Foster to see his name mentioned alongside that of a pretentious hack like Daniel Libeskind. Foster's committment to architecture showed early on with masterpieces like the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank. At a similar stage of his career, Libeskind was writing the sort of quasi-intellectual drivel that has so undermined the quality of the younger generations of architects in our schools. It would be sad to see a charlatan like Libeskind rewarded for his pretentions with a comission of this size and visibility.

Today's UK Guardian Newspaper exposed Libeskind's complete disregard for environmental issues. It reported that Libeskind's "energy-guzzling" Imperial War Museum in Liverpool had the worst possible rating for energy efficiency. Libeskind doesn't deserve to build anything.
