the person who penned this article displays a stunning lack of knowledge of the history of the ancient near east, and of israel in particular. he grossly misrepresents the positions of of the real archaeologists and historians he does mention. Articles like this turn up in virtually every culture and country, guided by politics and worse. they are a continuing example of why it is important for all of us to insure our children receive a proper education regarding history, so that they are not taken in by charlatans.

The article is full of lies. The Romans named Palestine Palastinia when they sacked Israel in 70AD. There was no Palestine mentioned in the Bible.
History shows that the Ottoman turks began to inhabit Palestine, now it is made up of arabs from various locations.
Archeologists have uncovered the wall surrounding David's compound as well as other residences within the city walls.
They are trying to re-write history but nobody is buying it. This sort of crap makes me angry. Here is a little truth, God and Jesus said the Jews would be gathered and returned to Israel, and there they are. It is also written that the Jews would never again be uprooted from Israel. If God put them there, there is nobody alive that can move them out.

For example, until 1993 there was no proof of the existence of King David or even of Israel as a nation prior to Solomon. Then in 1993 archeologists found proof of King David's existence outside the Bible. At an ancient mound called Tel Dan, in the north of Israel, words carved into a chunk of basalt were translated as "House of David" and "King of Israel" proving that he was more than just a legend.
In 1990 Frank Yurco, an Egyptologist at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, used hieroglyphic clues from a monolith known as the Merneptah Stele to identify figures in a Luxor wall relief as ancient Israelites. The stele itself, dated to 1207 B.C. celebrates a military victory by the Pharaoh Merneptah.“Israel is laid waste” it reads. This lets us know the Israelites were a separate people more than 3,000 years ago.

Remember these people's school books teach there was no Temple in Jerusalem and they won the five wars against Israel between 1948 and 1973

I think whoever fought hardest and won it is the owner.
If Muslims want, they can try and take Israel and the Strip, but fighting Israel has proven over and over again to be a very very bad idea.

I didn't read the article....
I just want to say that Palestine is mentioned in the Bible many times.

I have seen many people say that Palestine was not mentioned in the Bible...which is WRONG.

The name is Philistine/Philistini..

mary, the name palestine doesn't appear in the bible. palestine comes from the word palaestinos. it's a greek word that means 'wrestler'. the romans (who often used greek for official state business) used the word as a translation for the word israel, which is hebrew and means 'he wrestled with god'.
the name philistine, which does appear in the bible, has a different root. it comes from the word 'plst' which appears in both hebrew and egyptian documents. in it's current form, it's been given a greek rendering as philistine, but in it's more ancient form it was probably something more like 'pi l' set' meaning 'belongs to the house or domain of seth'. the egyptians report that the ancient inhabitants of israel (called either canaan or retenu) were followers of seth. talmudic sources would place the origin of the people called plst as pelusium (pi l' sin or just sin in egyptian), modern scholars tend to see these people (plst) as being part of a wave of greek immigrants along with several other related groups.
i have seen a single reference to ancient kingdom of palestine in the area of greater syria, from a source that i consider to be a reasonable archaeologist/historian. i haven't seen the material that backs up this claim though, so until it can be seen and evaluated, i'm withholding making a judgement on it.
hope this clears things up for you.

The exact word for Palestine is Filistine, or some call it Philistine .

you are writing something which is not related to Philistin.... I tell you, the truth.

Yes it is written in the Bible.

Genesis 26:1
A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.

Gerar...is located in south central israel.....above beersheba....and look where is gaza....

All that area is called philistine or filistin back then .

anyway peace..

Here is the map for you.

My point was that the Romans named Palestinia which was Philistia, or the land of the philistines. The word Palestine comes from the word Palestinia. Same land, different historic era.

Hi USBorn,

Yes sir, we call it Filistine, I believe when they change everything in english , it changes.. to their own language. That might be the reason the romans change it to palestine,....normally it is called Filistine or in the Bible it is written Philistin.

peace to u...

mary, the words palestine and philistine are not related to each other.
philistia (that is a word that is made to apply to the geographic area where the philistines lived) is a modern word. the plst refered to the area in which they dwelt by the names of the city states in the area. they didn't name the geographic region around themselves after their cultural group, nor did they have a single united state. they operated as a series of allied city states, before they were conquered and subsumed into the actual nation-state of israel.
now, you and your friends may refer to something by whatever name you choose. but, this doesn't change history. that's the point of my posts here, and the posts of others as well. if you have been taught that the nation of israel was refered to as philistin or palestine or anything like that, before the roman conquests, then you have been taught untruths.

mary, one other thing that should be mentioned explicitly here, is the historical eras we are dealing with. the plst were subsumed into israel around the year 900 bce. the romans conquered judaea and put it into an administrative district called palaestina after 70 ce. these two time periods are separated by nearly 1,000 years.
so, just to make this clear, there was never a place called filistin or philistin. this name refers to a people, not the place where they lived, and the use of this name and the name palaestina, which refers to a place, and not a people, is separated by a thousand years.

'true jew' the 'so called jews' who live in israel are the clear descendants of the jews who were dragged away in chains by assyrians, babylonians, greeks, romans and arabs. genetic studies have shown that the palestinians are also the descendants of these same ancient inhabitants. there were various resettlement programs by conquering nations that are mentioned in historical records that brought in peoples from pretty far afield. i am unaware of any of these people who still have maintained an ethnic identity separate from the nation as a whole.
perhaps, you are referring to a mystical tradition, instead of an historic one?

If you are going to shoot don't talk. There can never be peace between two people that do not have mutual respect for each other. Never have and never will. Unfortunately the opportunity to develop equality between Jews and Palestinians has come and gone and now it's time for Osama.

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Libra

You're at your most idealistic and romantic today, which is saying something. You have no desire to come into contact with brutal reality unless you have absolutely no choice in the matter. Instead, you want to float away into a world of your own, preferably accompanied by someone utterly wonderful. However, don't fall into the trap of kidding yourself about something or someone, especially if you know full well that this will break your heart further down the line.
