Stabbing Death in Tol, Faichuuk, Chuuk
“It's not us alone! In order to do the job we need their help!”
Tol, Chuuk- Police are still trying to piece together the details of what actually happened on Sunday evening, December 9. Chuuk State Police say that they have been told that a fight broke out on one of the lagoon islands of Faichuuk in the village of Tol at around 7:00 PM. Police say that the victim known as Chere Takoichi suffered one knife wound and that the wound was fatal.
Details are sketchy but Police have made four arrests in connection with the incident. One of those detained was questioned and released. Three are being held for further questioning about the incident. Read more

1 I am from the US and my beautiful wife of 10 years is Chuukese. While we lived in Hawaii my experience with the Micronesian community was wonderful. My heart is saddened, while so many good people of all of Micronesia suffer from an extremely poor economy, lack of adequate health care, food, shelter, education and governmental leadership, some have looked to fight amungst themselves about trival matters of racism. This is exactly what your government leaders want you to do so the attention is not on the politians taking much of the money given by foreign governments for themselves and friends. All the while neglecting the urgent needs of the people of Micronesia. I challenge the people of Micronesia to stand together and demand accountability from elected officals, demand clear answers on growing the local economy and engaging benefically in the global economy. Demand the government to build more hospitals and clinics to take care of the many in need of medical assistance. As you may know the world is going through tough economic times, this could result in even more challenging times for smaller countries such as Micronesia. I recommend you focus your attention and energy on protecting the future of the Micronesian people. This can best be accomplished by standing and working together on the tough years ahead. I'm very proud to read about the officers doing the best they can in the time like this. I respect you guys and gals, and my heart is out to you all. Keep up the wonderful job. There are rewards for you not only in this world, but in heavent for the types of works you do. It takes a real human to do the works you do, and a heart of an Angel to help someone in need.
