Why not build the casino? It would create more opportunity for the people of Pohnpei...as in money for high achieving students to afford accredited universities and all the costs they incur moving abroad. The economy in Pohnpei is completely dependent upon aid money. Coconuts, bananas, and fish just don't cut it. To all the PNI Pride crowd: you are right! It is a shame that your paradise is corrupted, but that is the history of the world. Can't go back, especially when the kids want mp3 players, dvds, cash power, cars, college degrees,'cool' clothes,*the monetization of feasts and church holidays*, etc. Such is life. If you are happy eating breadfruit, yams, coconut, and reef fish you are truly blessed, but if you want to eat canned meat and rice...you gotta pay the price! Much love to all my PNI crew!

I agree casino is noooooo good!!! Not only it brings prostitution, but brings bad people, like gangsters or mafia. Also drugs and so forth. Dont forget casino ruins peoples life's: big time. So I pray that the plan of having a casino is not supported and successful.

What is main purpose of this casino?...if we look back to the FSM economy in whole...it' all up side down. at first, foreign investment has led to the first and second step down regarding the Compact of free associations.
with all these probs....where are we, pni'anz going to live a while after apporoving all these foreign investors.if this country is meant to be a cow all diary products, meat, fur, and so on will be theirs...for the sake of their own goods...while the shit is ours. meaning that every thing that is considered "leftover" will be for the people. then, there our government is no longer a democracy, but a dictator ship gov't.
one major impact the casino will contribute to is over populating the country.another....is that culture will be swiftly fading away.
there might be something behind just the casino, it may be a deal between the FSM representatives and who ever whom has contributed supports to the approving of the casino.

I have worked with Indian communities in the US regarding casinos and while it brings in money, there are many problems, as we are aware. Also they distribute the money. You think your politicians are corrupt now. Wait until the money starts flowing from the casinos and people from other countries take over your country. What about those walking along the roads and children playing. You think all these off islanders are going to be aware or slow down? Not likely. Also this was supposed to be put to a vote by the people and wasn't. I wonder why? It is all about money and what gets paid under the table.
