Mexico violence separates families on Christmas

Full story: TheMonitor.com

Drug violence ravaging Mexico is keeping some South Texas residents from visiting family this Christmas, forcing lonely and heartbroken immigrants to seek solace at local churches rushing to offer ceremonies and services that are tradition across the border.

They should go home to Mexico and stay there, instead of sucking the life out of the U.S.A.!

Another pathetic sob story about the suffering of illegals. Fact is they come here to steal jobs, govt benefits, and IDs from americans and i want them to suffer. Maybe then these gringo-haters will stay away.

This is why the USA will eventually grant asylum to many Mexicans who're here today. It's simply not safe to go back to Mexico.

Its simply not safe in Africa either, its actually a whole lot worse than Mexico. Deportations go straight back to Mexico, so can those here illegally.

That's Mexico's problem, as well as its citizens' problem, not ours.

It's not safe to be in a lot of countries, but the fact is, we just cannot accept half the world in this country. To do so would put a great burden on our own citizens, which is not fair.

No oil wells in Mexico, huh? Such hypocrisy from you is sickening. What is going on in Mexico is right next door fool and every American needs to be outraged that in modern times this horror continues on a daily basis. If America thinks it can get by doing nothing but buying and enjoying illegal drugs what we see now is a drop in the bucket compared to when the whole world does start to learn from the Mexican immigrant and just start pouring in by the bunch even aided by the Raul Castros of the world.

You better have an escape plan to England ready.

Actually, Mexico is our problem right now. You would not be on these threads had that not been the case.

The narco-civil war in Mexico has killed hundreds of thousands of people. It's inevitable that a form of asylum will be on the horizon.

It's funny that you say you don't care becuase it doesn't really matter what you think, asylum was granted to hundreds of thousands of middle eastern people in the wake of the Afghan & Iraq wars and asylum was granted to hundred of thousands of Haitians after the Haiti earthquake.

It's just a matter of time before the flood gates open to an asylum for Mexican Nationals. It will be the perfect ploy and all you'll do is come to a website like Topix and say, "we don't care".

IMMIGRANTS sucking the life out of America? Are you really that deluded? Have you been blinded that 1% of the population - a 1% you and your children will NEVER be a part of -controls 40% of the wealth in America? That no matter how hard you work, your real buying power is shrinking? Blame a few poor illegals all you want, but YOUR personal situation would be improved not a whit if every illegal immigrant in the country were to disappear tomorrow. Five Republican Supreme Court justices have decided that corporations have the right to give unlimited bribes to your political leaders. Do you think the scum we elect to office will take your interests ove those of the people who bribe them with these unlimited campaign contributions/Are any of your political heroes even talking about stripping personhood from these entities that are shielded from all personal responsibility? Your're falling for the decoys these political leaders are using to distract you from the real game.

Then pressure your useless congress-critters to end federal prohibition. Take the money from the equation and how would it change the payrolls of the cartels? Keep even harmless herbs illegal and you continue transferring billions in wealth to the south of our borders. American farmers need that wealth far more that the corporate wellfare congress sends them now.

Is history no loner taught in the schools you attended? Go to your local library n pull some 1920 s newspapers from microfiche. Read the editorial reactions to the Mexican Revolution. Limits to arms in Mexico stem from pressure from Washington based on fear of Americans in the southwest. Another Mexican revolution won't make you any safer and the next Mexican government probably won't be one you like any better than this one.

They are not harmless- if they break the law to get here, they will use "my" social security number to get a job file taxes, etc. Fraud is no small thing; is it fair ir godly to cheat the system or the people waiting in line to come here legally because they are more honest than you. Believe God doesn't bless your lying & cheating.

So tell your useless congress critter that rather than pass sham laws to impress gullible voters, start letting employers report wages under the temporary numbers assigned to undocumented workers and track it. Under current law, employers can only report wages paid under Social Security Numbers, forcing the workers to Flea Markets to buy numbers just like yours. After all, the bribes paid to congresspersons insure that no effective enforcement will ever be applied to corporate employers.
Those who aspire to resident status are very careful to file under their temporary numbers every year - partially due to the court decisions making them eligible for Child Tax and other refundable credits, but also because failure to file permanently disqualifies them from eventual immigration.
Incidentally, while they can claim over-withholding but can never recover their contributions to Social Security.
Since wages paid to illegals are so low and without benefits, then yeah, sick or injured illegals are crowing the emergency rooms - just like poorly compensated Citizens. But your political heroes blocked single-payer health care, blocking us from joining the rest of the civilized world, where health care is a right. Sic Semper Tea Party idiots.
Again, as long as we accept corporate bribes to politicians, there will be no real enforcement of immigration laws. So go out and defeat your incumbent congresspeople and do it every two years until you elect one who refuses corporate or other large contributors. Yeah, it'll take public financing and removal of blinders.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
