Nuked coral reef at Bikini Atoll bounces back - but don't eat the coconuts

Three islands of Bikini Atoll were vapourised by the Bravo hydrogen bomb in 1954, which shook islands 200 kilometres away. Instead of finding a bare underwater moonscape, ecologists who have dived it have given the 2-kilometre-wide crater a clean bill of health.

I am inclined to think that 50+ years later for a recovery does not qualify as "bouncing" back....

Great fishing and glow-in-the-dark coconuts to light the way.

Um, okay, maybe not...

I see everybody is an nuclear expert here :-))
If you see "glowing" radiation, you're dead in 1-2 hours.(except you watching "The Simpsons", which is quite safer :-))

Ouch!!!

I want to slap him every time he says that. Every time. Just a quick, hard slap. I wouldn't go so far as to electrify sensitive bits like some people I know have suggested.

Although...

1) You really are humor impaired. Sorry about that.

2) The joke goes back to the watches that were sold here in the states in the late 1960's with a small amount of glowing radioactive material on the faces. None of us died within minutes of looking at them.

Yes, I know, if the landscape is glowing that's a whole different thing. But - as long as it isn't actually happening to you - it's funny.

Well, you know, in a twisted sense they improved things for the reef. Nobody wanted to visit the area because of the residual radiation, so the reef got left alone and grew well.

Nevermind, of course, that the reef was trashed by first. By the same bombs which caused the residual radiation.
