"He then writes off all Mörner's scientific achievements because he thinks that anyone who believes in dowsing must be a crank."
Morener's not a climate scientist. His opinion in this matter is like asking a plumber what's wrong with your lab mouse protocol. Still having trouble making a rational argument aren't you. "Smart from Tucson then goes on to state that he believes the USA will fare better than the rest of the world and claims he isn't bothered what happens anyway, because he has, "contingency plans" in place." That really terrifies you doesn't it! Heh. I can see you getting all edgey and nervous. On the one hand I accept the reality that the scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports. On the other hand, I don't fit your model of the panicked greenie. Indeed, I find the whole thing sort of an interesting challenge. And what frightens you the most is, if the stuff hits the fan and you come knocking on my door for help, I'm gonna laugh in your face. Not my job to come to your rescue if you decide to spend the next couple decades living in denial. It's on you baby. Face the reality or not. In the end I don't care. But I do feel a little responsibility to put the facts out there in a reasoned, logical way. Probably one or another doubter out there is thinking "Hmmm. He's got a point about personal preparation." If so, great. |

1 I tried to tell you they are different cultures. Look up "List of countries by 2006 emissions" to find Maldives. |

1 The subject is sea level rise or not and Mörner studied sea level behaviour for 35 years, which makes him one of the foremost sea level experts on the planet. As you have difficuly understanding the written word, yes. I haven't been edgy or nervous since WWII ended. It's also obvious that you accept in unquestioningly. TBH, I haven't bothered to pigenhole you. "Challenge?" There is no challenge. Nothing frightens me any more, least of all climate change or rising sea levels, I live 550 metres AMSL. It's highly unlikely I'll be around in, "a couple of decades" from now. It's quite apparent that you lack both reason and logic. NB: As you're so smart, isn't it time you learned how to quote posts when replying? |

I hear there will be a TV special; it will be in Guinness book of World Records, I can't wait.
I'm so excited, I could pee. If I'm underwater, no one will see. |

"Mörner studied sea level behaviour for 35 years, which makes him one of the foremost sea level experts on the planet."
Unless of couse there's a new constant in his model, assuming he's got a model rather than merely documenting changes. Thing is, he's not a climatologist. So unless he can do a better job accounting for warming and its effects on glaciers than the climatologists, he's not the go-to guy on this. "I haven't been edgy or nervous since WWII ended." AH. An Old Curmudgeon are you? I guess you're entitled. "It's also obvious that you accept in unquestioningly." You'd be incorrect there. I just happen to keep up with the data, know lots of people in the field, and have a bit of paleoclimatology training to boot. Which is why I know that the only "smoking gun" for the current warming event is CO2. When someone comes up with a better explanation, my opinion will change. "'Challenge?' There is no challenge." So you say. Your opinion and some baloney and some bread make a baloney sandwich. "Nothing frightens me any more, least of all climate change or rising sea levels, I live 550 metres AMSL." Yer right. Ocean's not gonna touch you. I think one of the problems with the people really spooked about GW is they have this whole idea that if all the ice caps melt it'll be Waterworld a la Costner flick. So all you need to worry about is societal disruption. Of course, if you really were romping around in 1945, I can see why this really wouldn't be on your worry list. "NB: As you're so smart, isn't it time you learned how to quote posts when replying?" Nah. I'm comfy with the style to which I've become accustomed. What do they hunt in Spain anyhow? Chukar? |

1 That neatly answers all of my questions. |

Why, do you think their emissions make any measureable difference? |
