Kit Siang is outdated, says Khairy

SEREMBAN: Umno Youth Vice-Head Khairy Jamaluddin Saturday described opposition leader Lim Kit Siang as no longer relevant in this modern age of politics.

"I don't take Lim Kit Siang's views seriously because he is an outdated politician...his time has passed," he told reporters at the MyTeam football players selection programme here.

He was asked to comment on his name being constantly raised by Lim in allegations made during debates in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said Lim must be his fan because Lim would talk about him every chance he got.

"Pity me because he's always referring to me or attacking me in Parliament where I have no chance to respond...he knows that I'm not a Member of Parliament.

"If we want to talk about someone, we should do it at a forum where that person has a chance to reply," he said.

Khairy said the issues raised by Lim were irrelevant and had been answered by many Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs and he thanked them for doing so. On the MyTeam, he said since the programme started on Feb 10, about 15,000 nationwide had turned up for the selection.

This was a very big number because they never had a chance to take up football and MyTeam's aim was to offer them that chance, said Khairy, who is executive producer and Chairman of Maya Team Sdn Bhd which is responsible for the selection aired over TV3.

The final selection of players for the programme will be held at Padang Timur Petaling Jaya today
