To: UN General Assembly PAPUA NATIONAL CONSENSUS COLLECTIVE LEADERS - PRESENT A PETITION TO THE UNITED NATIONS: A PETITION submitted to the United Nations for its General Assembly in September 2010 to put in place arrangements for the free exercise of the right to self-determination, so that the indigenous peoples of West Papua can decide democratically their own future in accordance with International Standards of human rights, the principles of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations. We call the attention of the United Nations to the West Papua Action UN Review of 2002, the last petition on September 2004 by the PAPUA NATIONAL COMMITTEE which received support from around the world of 800 signatures, and which in turn was followed by a petition sent by the then President of AWPA (Australia West Papua Association), Mr. Kel Dummet from Melbourne-Australia which received support from around the world of over 4000 signatures concerning self-determination for West Papua. These and other petitions outlined the torture and murder of the Papuan national leader, Ondofolo Theys Hiyo Eluay, President of the Presidium Papua Council as well as various human rights violations and the accumulating human tragedy in the land of Papua. This ongoing incarceration, maltreatment and murder of our people has been justified by the Indonesian political leadership, police and military simply because of Papua’s ongoing demand to assert their right to self determination and independence. This right proceeded from the Manifesto of October 19, 1961, and the declaration on 1st December 1961 in Hollandia West Papua by members of the New Guinea Council (NG-RAAD) who had been democratically selected in order to consolidate full independence and self-government by 1970. This first Ruling was sent to the Netherlands and ratified by Parliament and the Dutch Government at the time. Nevertheless, the government of Indonesia unilaterally annexed Papua through the deployment of the Trikora command, announced by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno on the December 19, 1961 in Yogyakarta. Since 1965 various factions have struggled to resist the annexation of the sovereign nation of Papua and to defend the identity and sovereignty of the Papuan people. ing our own security troops. We invite the world communities to indicate support and the sympathy by adding below their signatures to the petition. We thank you. Signed by, and in the name of The Collective Leaders-Papua National Consensus, Prokorus Yaboisembut, SPd., Chairman, Papua Customary Council (DAP) Rev. Edison Waromi, SH., President, West Papua National Authority (WPNA) Emr. Rev. Herman Awom, STh., Moderator, Papua Presidium Council (PDP) Sincerely, The Undersigned
