Are we not all slavs? Once people begin to follow their familys history they begin to see there is some of each Historical trace within, if you are fortunate enough to go back far enough. One big happy family here!

The Lithuanian seaside resort NIDA, which is located not so far from Klaipeda has belonged to the Germany, and some of the parts of Lithuania in fact was Germany few hundred years ago. Which were returned to us by the Germans as the time went by. Not a surprise. Everybody knows it, its a historical fact. Even if you go to NIDA now, you'll probably hear 70 percent of the tourists speaking in German, just try to ask them why...:)))

Why are we not slavs? Because we just aren't. Different language from different language family, different history. Even different face structure. We have some words of foreign origin, some are pretty new, others are used for ages. Some of them are slavic, some of them are scandinavian, some of them are german, and so on. In the medieval ages they were borrowed by the merchants and started using by local people. Some were borrowed later, or forced to use during occupation. But after all that, the assimilation in all the ways did not change the major line - the baltic roots. If you know, for example, many lithuanians and russians - you would be able to recognize who is who just by looking at their faces, and fail rarely.
Now why would that be an insult? Because calling us slavs shows your ignorance - you certainly don't know, that the Soviet Union is gone. All the soviets were called russians, weren't they? Although it had a looooot of different nations, many of them were not slavic. Even today Russia has many non-slavic nations living in it. So, if you call us slavs, you probably don't recognize our independence or just don't give a fuck. That's not a reason to punch you in the face, but if you fail on that 10 times after getting everything explained - then you should be. It's like calling japanese or koreans chinese. Stupidity at it's best.

Bosnians are exactly the same as Serbs and Croatians who are Southern Slavs the only difference is religion but the language is exactly the same... Albanians are different they are Illyrians or as other would say they are Thracian/Illyrians I think the dumbest thing someone can do is hate someone just for being born in a certain place, or belonging to a certain ethnicity. Ever consider the fact that people are individuals who (sometimes) think for themselves and aren't robots following a government and/or nationalist agenda? I for one, am originally from the republic of macedonia, and have nothing against albanians and greeks. Some of my best friends today are greek. Unfortunately most people in the balkans don't think this way, and that's why nationalism cum racism continues to drag this region back into the dark ages.

Turkoglu wrote: Hey Dreamers, So what if Baltis are Slavs? Are you aters of Slavs, the way the Greeks call Macedonians Slavs as an insult? Get your facts right. Greeks are all Turks and Slavs. Albenians are not albenians at all They are mounteneers: From Alps, Albs, Whites as Franks Whites. Now why don't Albenians call themselves Illirians? No connection. Actually they call theselves:"Shquipelirians . But when the Macedonian Enciclopedia mention Shqipelirians, they took offence and protested. Actually Albenians are Chechen collonist brought in by Turky as the most criminal people to subdue the slavs. Poland Baltic? Are you ok? Look at map of Europe. Sanskrit? The only similarity with Sanskrit is Church, old Macedonian Slavinik. Literaly similar. Read Slovenian linguists. Friends? Don't spread racial hatrid, all nations have the right to exist. Only Greeks have a chip on their back, no history, no language spoilt brats trying to eat alive Macedonians. Thanks for your support friends. Asta la vista. Well since Greece was sent to the stone age from the northern invasion, I do support that (But it's a bit old). Poland is a big country.... They can be Baltic if they want. English people are Anglo (I am Anglo-Slavic) It's like Macedonians people getting called Greeks because they are close to Greece.

This is sooo true! Labelling people is easy but it causes so many problems.

Lets say Lithuanians are slavs. So then people from Ireland, Scotland and Wales are englishmen. Am i right? You will say: no way. So we are not slavs. We are baltics(baltai -org.) Our language is diferent, slavs use kirilica, we use latin alphabet. You say - Great Britain, slavs- Velikaja Britanija, we- Didziojo Britanija.
WE ARE NOT SLAVS.

Because all the baltics were invaded by Russians. And almost got their languages destroyed. And had to speak Russian forcefully. So yeah. Of course we fucking hate Russians. Well to be histoicaly correct Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth had invaded Muscovite Russia in 1609 and they had practicaly taken over complete control of russian lands by the end of 1610 and Poles had even chosen the future king of new russia under polish rule of catholic king Sigismund III Vasa and that was outrages for orthodox russians for which convertion to the catholic faith was like a for a muslim to convert to christianity but well there are no known records of intentions of Poles to polonize Russians and make them more familiar to the culture of western slavs

Speak for yourselves about "hating slavs". Many of my relatives died in Siberia, but it does not make us "hate" slavs. Both languages come from commonroots, the indo - european branch, so there is a commonality of root words. The languages are different, but with about 30% of vocabulary quite closely related. There was repression of the language under the czars, quite seriously and the soviet times, but I know russians who have come to Lithuania and are now speakers of Lithuanian.

Albanians came from today's Azerbaijan area a long time ago. Lithuanians came from Pakistan and Northern India area via Turkey and Greece and Ukraine a very long time ago ad mixed with local Ugro-Finn populations. Lithuanians are not Slavic at all, but they do have something in common with their Indo-European brothers such as Slavs, Germanics, Romanics etc. Slavs are only hated because of their behaviour and their recent abusive history. In Lithuania, for example, Slavs are considered like "Afro-Americans" in the USA or like Turks in Germany. Unfortunately there are racists in every country. People do have preferences. Some people do not like the way Slavs behave themselves. Some people do not like the way Turks speak and behave. etc. In general, if you are nice to others, they will be nice too you as well. So, quit being racist, now. I'm doing just that now.

It's like Lithuanians are called Greeks because similarity in their surnames and names especially the -is, -as endings and because in Greek CITY is POLIS and in Lithuanian is PILIS, etc. Don't forget that all Indo-Europeans are related. I have one interesting observation: in English NIGHTINGALE, in Lithuanian is LAKSHTINGALA. This proves in brief that we are Indo-Europeans.
