Because I am Canadian and because I believe ALL people (regarlness of ethnicity) are entitled to basic human rights makes me socialist? I see... Do you even have an educated sense of what Canada is all about, Veritas (besides the propaganda that you've been force-fed by Republicans)? Tell me (in very precise language... i.e. give me an example of how Canadian "socialism," as you call it, has been detrimental to its people), what it is about Canada that you feel is illiberal and undemocratic? If you are going to base it solely on our medicare system, then you are more ridiculous than I could imagine! We don't have to remortgage our homes simply because we fall ill. Even your Sarah Palin has adminted to travelling "north" of the border when she needed medical assistance. Is Sarah Palin secretly socialist (OMG!)? Must be! How, exactly am I not "living and let living?" Why don't you "live and let those suffering live" free of your petty discrimination. That poor Russian living in rural Yaroslavl trying to eak out a living out had NOTHING to do with Soviet politics! It would serve you right to be stranded in Russia and be judged for America's having bullied the entire world, you hypocrite! And if you knew anything about modern history, you would know that as many Russians in the countryside suffered under the Soviet Union as any other nationality! Do some research! I assure you, I have a good sense of my paternal country's recent history and that I am not ok with the actions of those who had inflicted hardship and turmoil upon MY people (You're not even Lithuanian or Baltic for that matter!). But I will not judge and hate an entire people (Russians) based on the actions of a particular cadre of people responding to a political context that was specific to that particular moment in history. And, I am not a traitor to my heritage simply because I do not believe all Russians are evil monsters! So YOU bugger off! We are no longer enduring a revolution... we are in the post-revolutionary period in the Baltic.. thousands of people are no longer singing in a human chain BECAUSE THERE IS NO LONGER A SOVIET UNION! Let's move on, shall we?

I think its only Lithuanians. Who felt them selfs what has happened can give you a clear perspective. Instead of you seeing it on a telly from far country like Canada. We know it, cause we been there. It happened 30miles from where I live 20 years ago. Plus Lithuania has been a republic for ages now. Under pure democracy. But its more conservative, then liberal. Forget communism, such shit dont even exist.

You are both wrong. The radio station and the TV tower was stormed in Vilnius/Lithuania. My country. Not Latvia. Not in Riga. But in Vilnius. In 1990. Spalio 13ta. It was not communist mobs, but it was a soviet army, trying to invade, so that we would stop broadcasting the problem of ussr, abroad, to guys like you watchin it in Canada, when that has happened 20 years ago. When the people resisted, the media invassion, and went under tanks. Soviets have pulledout. Because world already knew what has happened. And the Soviet leader who has canceled this ussr military opperation on baltics. And had enough brains to understand, to let us go free, was Michael Gorbochiov. Very smart man. We still respect him for that. Since then, the bloodshed has stopped and ussr troops were withdrawn from the baltics. Under Mr.Gorbochiovs orders in Kremlin. Thats what happened. And thats how Baltics became independent in early 1990. Now its 2010, and some people still dont know the clear story, which is this. That bloody 13th, on which ussr has withdrawn its forces, is known as an "Independence Day" of Lithuania. There you go.

But veritas is right about the ring of mobs. They do run they rings in EU. Because it is simply more wealthier now and more profitable for them to benefit, from their bitches. But I still dont like their escorts, cause they are dirty and have STDs. LOL.

Curious Lithuanian Female wrote: Where did this mail-order bride phenomenon come from? When one googles "Baltic women," the three top hits are 1. "Russian women girls Russian women Russian bride single Personals" 2. "Single Russian and Baltic women seeking marriage and dating" and 3. "Latvian Pearls - Russian Women seeking men for marriage." But when one googles "Canadian women" the top three hits are 1. "Celebrating women's achievements," 2. "Welcome to the Canadian Women's Foundation" and 3. "Canadian women deserve praise for gold." Clearly, in google's cyber world, Baltic women have been framed as commodities to be purchased at will. Any thoughts on this phenomenon? That's like asking, "Why is there prostitution?" Because someone are willing to sell something and others are willing to buy it! By the way, Single Baltic Women is a hokes!! Either do the women work there or else they don't exist! DON'T ENTER! You will only loose a lot of money!

Hi Veritas, Thx for your informitive replies which were useful to me. BTW Dalia aka Inqusitave is a militant feminist/with communist ideology who is using this platform for a different agenda than stated and she wont let the facts confuse her as she is only intrested in the militant feminism myth that she seeks to create. Hence not only will she ignore the facts she will attack on a personal level anyone challenging her

There definitely are Russian criminals. BUT unfortunately there are many Lithuanian criminals who harm their own countrymen without any regret. And not necessarily criminal stuff Im talking about. They're especially quite unfriendly with each other abroad. Intrigues, subservience.... I guess we're more individual and not so social with each other. Of course, there are nice people, but I would never trust other Lithuanian just because he's a Lithuanian too. Believe me.

Let's move on, shall we? I completely agree with you that Russsian and someone who hails Stalin and Co are the same. Though some Russians tend to identify themselves with Soviet Union or more precisely Soviet Union's "glorious achievments" that practically gave very little or nothing to average Russian and took too many lives. I personally can't understand this contradiction. Unfortunately Russian propaganda can't move forward as the whole Russian system is so backward and tainted, idk what would change. In Russia the media portray Lithuania and Latvia, estonia as fascist, Russian hating countries that always try to harm Russia. It's all politics usually. But part of Russians are affected by this But you're you were talking about Lithuanian Russians. Life in Russia is different, less possibilities and other stuff and Russians who live in Lithuania I believe are able to compare this. Though statistically Polish and russian minorities earn less (not that they are discriminated, language barrier of older poeple perhaps or other problems related to certain territories). I personally there aren't big problems with Russians in Lithuania as most Lithuanians don't feel this minority is big enough to do any serious harm. Younger generation are fluent in Lithuanian and don't have serious problesm adapting and they can understand both Russian and Lithuanian sources and get the objective opinion of their own and they know that they'e not living in Soviet Union. The older generation. their sentiments for soviet union are annoying. Though some Lithuanians think that Soviet Union was better than the current Lithuania but this is bullshit, I have nothing to say to this nonsence usually. Anyway, the danger from Russian goverment is real, they wouldn't occupy us, we live in modern times when they rather buy local politicians and important objects. This is not my imagination, that's the way it is.
