Judged: 1 "Mano carveh ira neshia" is translated "you are so beautiful" and "Kodel tu galveh?" means "how did you ever get so pretty?" and how do I say "you are the most beautiful girl ever!" in Lithuanian? Thank you so much for your help !! |

Judged: 1 1 you are the most beautiful girl ever = Ar tu megsto man daugiau (dogio) debah (debuh). I'm trying to think of how to write it phoenetically. Daugia isn't like dog or doje. G as in egg. dogio. try this out and tell me how it goes and then I'll have more for you. I've worked my wazoo off to learn this language. How do you know this person? I met some hot as hell nannies and started down this path. If I were unmarried I'd go the Bulgarian route now. |

pronunciation won't be easy. If this doesn't work out quite the way you want I'll write something really good. Luckily for you there are lots of words the same in both languages.
The thing that sucks for me is that now I can speak it well and after 5 years of marriage I can't surprise the wife with my brand new Lithuanian skills or anything. You're a freakin lucky bastard. When I wanted to say anything well I couldn't and now that I can it isn't a surprise or anything. guys should try to learn the language ahead of time. Be prepared. Be able to say hello, goodbye, you're pretty, thank you, please, my name is, I can't speak..., in like 25 languages. It's not as hard as people think |
|
Judged: 1 I met this girl on a "friend" site and we've been messaging each other in English... but I know she is from Lithuania so I thought it would be nice too send her some messages in her native language... I think she will like this :) so = "Ar tu megsto man daugiau" is how I would write that too her you think? you are the most beautiful girl ever |

I want to learn the language to, and polish too, I know a little Russian but writing these languages in the hardest for me. I can speak a little Russian but I can't write it at all.

Oh man. I've been writing this all phonetically cause I thought you'd speak to her, not write. Which is it? When are you trying this out? So you've never met this person? |
| |
|
no we've met and we know each other good... I just wanted to write it to her... I like sending her little messages all the time and I know she likes it too.:)
I want to write these phrases to her in her Language Lithuanian... maybe one line one day and another the next... |

|

I am terrible at Lithuanian spellings. Did you try em out? How'd it go? |

Judged: 2 1 1 Oh man, Mr. Phillip is either *%$#ing with you or is very, very confused about the Lithuanian language. "Mano carve ira necia" sounds like a mangled, grammatically incorrect attempt at the phrase "my cow is pregnant." I don't think this is what you had in mind... Here's the real goods straight from a fairly decent LSL (Lithuanian as a second language speaker): You are the most beuatiful girl: Tu esi graziausia mergina Or You are very beautiful: Tu esi labai grazi I repeat: Mr. Phillip is wrong, wrong, wrong. I don't want to dissect each phrase he suggested to you, but they're all wrong and/or inappropriate or both. Here's a website where you can learn how to compliment a Lithy lady for real: http://mokinys.wordpress.com/2007/01/24/compl... Kris |

Judged: 1 I wasn't sure about those translations... but I'm sure she would have gotten a laugh out of them... thank you Kris for your translations... and that's a good website too I will keep for reference Jeff |

Sorry sorry. That was a family joke about a french guy that had that happen to him. It took me 6 years to learn Lithuanian and I'm obviously not done.
I taught you to say "My cow is pregnant. Why do you think" and "Do you like me more now" I figured I don't know you and there are tons of problems in East Europe where women are kidnapped and sent to America or wherever as sex slaves and whatnot. If she liked you I figured you'd be like "That wasn't it" and if you were wacko it'd be harder to steal her. I did tell you how to say "You are an angel" I'll try to figure out something better and accurate. I was wondering how long this would go. Also there is a "seek foreign brides" thread where guys talk about some issues you may face at some point |
|
foreign brides, kidnappings, sex slaves... thats crazy! What are you talking about!? Where do you come up with this... it's ridiculous ! I can't believe it haha
This girl lives close to me in the us... she speaks both Lithuanian and English... we're just friends right now... I can tell her she's pretty, beautiful, wonderful, amazing, etc in English, and I do, but it would be really nice if I could say it to her in Lithuanian I think... |

Women being kidnapped in East Europe is a serious problem. ask her about it |

Judged: 1 Yeap, an interesting conversation here...:-) I'm Lithuanian myself, and I can tell you honestly, that there in LT, it's the same situation like in any other country, such as England, Italy or France on the matter of kidnaps. Also, Jeff, Kris' translation is correct... you can trust him. Some other sayings to please your girl: I like you - tu man patinki; I'm thinking of you - as apie tave galvoju; You're in my mind - tu mano mintyse; I like your smile - man patinka tavo sypsena; I like being with you - man patinka buti su tavimi; I'd love to spend more time with you - man patiktu praleisti daugiau laiko su tavimi... Good luck... and... let us know how have you succeeded.:-))) |
